2 questions - Please

Post by EngineerKenny123 »

Well I've been out of TS for too long, but I'm now back. I really want to pick up the New Haven Route, and both the Kawasaki 8 and the FL9 locos. I was wondering - I read (long ago) that there were a lot of bugs with this route and the Kawasaki 8 engine in particular- seems to me I watched some you tube videos. Anyhow, can anyone please tell me if they are "buggy" - or maybe if a patch was put out. Like I say, I've been away for awhile.

Secondly, does anyone have any idea when (IF???) March Madness begins. I've got a lot of stuff I want to pick up. I obviously missed Thxgiving, and Xmas sales.

As always, thanks in advance, and I've missed you guys!

What-giving? See forum rules.

Come on Kenny, it's only an extra three letters for you to type... :)

The New York - Newhaven route got a update today so that might of foxed some bugs. The M8 is abit of a resource hog but it's not as bad as when it was first released.

Thanks for the reply Merlin. I surely appreciate it.

And Mr. Ash - I have no idea to what you refer. But if my abbreviation of Thanksgiving was against the rules, in any way, I apologize to all. If that isn't what you are referring to, then I am cluless. At my stage in life, the last thing I want to do is offend anyone.

Not a problem Kenny - it's just that "text-speak" is not allowed on the forums. Many older members simply cannot comprehend it, and many more dislike it.

Just like you missed the one explaining the difference between a comma and a full stop Richard? .,' (I've used 'em all...that should cover every eventuality)

Kenny, a lot of the negative posts about the route have been from people who have been confused by the signalling system, the thread at http://railworksamerica.com/forum/viewt ... eaa50080e3 dispels some fears, and http://ftp.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=361&p=1701105 relates some findings about frame rates with the Kawasaki 8.

All in all, both items seem to perform in line with most others---there's always somebody who'll hastily post a complaint without testing or corroborating and unfortunately there begins the snowball effect.

When I first got the Kawasaki 8 my FPS sat a 15, but DTG released a patch for it and now I get about 30 to 40 FPS when running it.

Gptech and trev - Excellent information and I thank you. I agree 100% with you gptech, and won't let the naysayers stop me - especially when credible guys like you say it's an OK route. Regardless of how I end up thinking it is, I appreciate your information. Thanks to both of you again!

With many people now using smartphones to access the forums, with their abysmal touchscreen keyboards that block the whole screen so you can not read what you have just typed, the urge to go into text mode is always there and typo's are almost a certainty I am amazed there are not more transgressions . . . .

Welcome back to the sim Kenny - a listing of what has received patches recently is on Steam TS2015 new page.
