Not at all, I remember well the fun days of 56kb modems and having to make sure no one wanted to make or was expecting a call.gptech wrote:You kids today....no patience.....and Dave, surely you're too young to remember 'dial-up'?

Re: DTG Class 180
Haha! My old workdesk computer at the dole office worked off of dialup, and that was as far as when I was made redundant in 2012! Must have been one of the only PC's left in the universe in an office still working off 56k!
!
I remember being on a couple of paired 180 sets when they started with FGW, the first one in the morning from Chippenham (Saturdays I think) was a 10 car 180 for a bit but with front 5 unlocked only. There was a Swansea that was 10 car too, not sure if both were unlocked or not, can't remember.
Looking forward to hammering this up on the ECML, and the GWML (though preferably on an updated version)

Yes, good idea so lets get back to deciding where we'd like the reskins for this as yet un-released addon hosting......tycoonkid9 wrote:I can hope that this thread returns back on topic
A FHT trains skin would be nice, that'd fit with the ECMLS and be very apt for Darren Porters latest route project. (Off topic I know, but if anybody missed it-----http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... &p=1740286)

Re: DTG Class 180
I for one would like more liveries for this unit as it is, to me, an iconic unit, which is quite popular. Also, it would be the perfect unit for DTG to implement flight simulator style faliure systems! Now who is up for that?

Re: DTG Class 180
As far as I know only the JT Voyager has failures that can be scripted.
Re: DTG Class 180
Anyone can script failures to a train, it's whether is included or not.chrisreb wrote:As far as I know only the JT Voyager has failures that can be scripted.

I think the AP Class 90 must have script applied faults as these can be switched off with a key combination.deltic009 wrote:Anyone can script failures to a train, it's whether is included or not.chrisreb wrote:As far as I know only the JT Voyager has failures that can be scripted.

Re: DTG Class 180
Just watched the live stream previewing the 180. Looks great from the inside and outside, but once again the sounds are dreadful. It's almost silent in the cab with no sensation of movement at all. Why don't DTG realise that a lack of attention to detail with the sounds totally detract from the simulator experience? It shouldn't be up to AP to address this time after time. Get it right first time DTG, the add-ons aren't exactly cheap.
They're so close always with the model: cracking passenger views, great cabs etc, but miss an open goal with the sounds ad nauseum.

Re: DTG Class 180
What DTG should do is hold off the release and take the time to correct the sounds. As I haven't watched the steam I suspect they are copy-paste off the Class 220.

But, they are almost silent in the cab.

But, there must be more noise than that surely. The livestream was like sitting being reflective in a country parish church, not thrashing down the East Coast Main Line
The sounds weren't great from the outside too....sounded like a remix of the original Kuju HST sounds to me.

At a push I would have thought the Voyager or 170 sounds would have been much more appropriate.K2rover wrote:But, there must be more noise than that surely.
