Hi,

if I compare assets/SAD directory between http://rail-sim.de/railsimnew/index.php ... for-ts2012 and these two UKTS routes, I have differences:

Shall I keep original SAD assets or modified comes with UKTS route ?

In particular, these differences are voluntary improvements ?

I imagine you'll find that the UKTS routes use the SAD assets from the various UKTS Freeware packs, which are exactly the same as those found in the stand alone releases of his assets. Whichever you use makes no odds, but as they're in different folder trees having duplicate copies does no real harm.

Hi,

they are not a duplicate copies but altered or a previous version of SAD assets

How do you know they're altered?

I download SAD assets with link given by SAD: http://rail-sim.de/railsimnew/index.php ... for-ts2012 and I use winmerge to compare binary files

But no comparison of what the assets look like in the game?
Of course the .bin files will be different, to reflect the different paths and you'll probably see different time stamps on the folders and files.
If there has been any working of the textures for that particular route then yes, you could call them *new* files but they should also live in a dedicated folder to reflect that customisation .

For example,

in UKTS31726: the size of file SAD\Scenery\wires\textures\railwire_wire.TgPcDx is 86 ko
and in original SAD asset, the size of file SAD\Scenery\wires\textures\railwire_wire.TgPcDx is 22ko

But still no comparison of how the assets look in the game.

Which asset calls for the railwire_wire.TgPcDx texture file?
Is the larger of the two actually named railwire_wire_nm.TgPcDx ?
Have you given the full paths there, does the UKTS one actually live in ..\Assets\UKTS_FP\<pack name>\ SAD\Scenery\wirestextures ?

Moot points really, as all of us are free to use whichever set of assets we prefer---as long as we're prepared to go through routes using assets from the set we haven't chosen and swap them for the ones we have installed.

Ok, one is a direct replacement of the other as they both want to live in ..\assets\SAD so there'd be no issue at all regarding duplication.

The railwire_wire.TgPcDx textures look like:

Image

the UKTS one on the right which is a bigger 'X' x 'Y' size which accounts for the different file sizes.

In game the UKTS one looks like:

Image

which to me looks no different to the SAD Altenburg version:

Image

though the latter version does produce more supporting posts along the loft. This could be due to my rushed install of the single asset rather than an issue with the UKTS asset, but I'd suggest sticking with the Altenburg version.

EDIT:

Quick test with the Factory1 asset
Altenburg:

UKTS (GCR):

Once again, no discernible difference; the difference in texture file sizes (as reported by Windows Explorer) is 1KB so nothing to get concerned about.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as you have copies of both asset sets, or the installers, you can easily replace one for the other if you find inaccuracies/inconsistencies in any routes calling for them.

One thing I have noticed with the signalling wires shown above is that they are luminous at night now, when I first used them on my routes prior to TS 2015 they were not, also the wooden foot crossings suffer from this. Is it possible SAD may have upgraded some of his assets to eliminate this?

If the glow at night has only appeared since the upgrade to TS2015 it's doubtful SAD's done any revisions. Have you been investigating this with scenarios/routes using the new weather system?

I have re downloaded the files from SAD and the luminosity has gone on both objects and work on either types of weather patterns so I guess the files have been changed at some point. Good news as I enjoy all SADs creations :D
