Missing Train
I have loaded up a couple of scenarios on Edinburgh to Newcastle and York to Newcastle Modern I am driving East Coast HST I have cab view on both but on external view no train at all. Any help would be most welcome. Thank you.

Re: Missing Train
Hi
Are the scenarios where you see this issue default ones? If so, you may have a corrupted download - I'd try downloading the route again from the JT site and re-installing.
On the other hand, if the scenarios are third party ones (and you can see the couplings between coaches) then it's likely that you've not copied the necessary shape files over.
Let us know which, and if it's the latter, we can help further.

Thanks it's the latter I can see the couplings between the carriages. It's a third party scenario.

Re: Missing Train
Ash is probably spot on then, that's a common occurrence if the shape files (.GeoPcDx) for the reskin haven't been copied, or haven't been copied into the right place. Do you know which reskin the scenario uses?whiteij7544 wrote:Thanks it's the latter I can see the couplings between the carriages. It's a third party scenario.

Re: Missing Train
From that I'd say it's using one of Richards reskins, so check the instructions that came with it and make sure you've copied the correct .GeoPcDx files, and into the right place.
Incidentally, have you edited the scenario at all with RW Tools?----it's written so that you're driving a Cross Country HST, not an East Coast one:

Re: Missing Train
My mistake in first post it should have said Cross Country HST.

Re: Missing Train
That's fine, I was just wondering if there was a further complication possibly caused by any scenario editing rather than being 'picky'---though of course there was an element of that toowhiteij7544 wrote:My mistake in first post it should have said Cross Country HST.

In what way are the instructions not correct?.whiteij7544 wrote:I have solved it instructions with the reskin were not quite correct.
Seeing as this is one of my reskins, then I am genuinely interested to hear how. I and another person have just checked the readme and all seems to be as it should be. If this is not the case, then an idea of what the error is and how you have solved your issue would be helpful so any amendments needed can be made to assist other users in the future.
Kindest Regards,
Richard

Nothing wrong with them, so what did you do initially?the instructions wrote: How to Install
=== == =======
Unzip the file to a temporary location, ie. desktop.
1. Install the .rwp file using the TS Package Manager.
2. Go to the folder: (Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC)
and run the 'InstallMeXCHST' batch file.

Nothing wrong with your instructions, I think he probably read the DPS instructions wrong.rfletcher72 wrote:In what way are the instructions not correct?.whiteij7544 wrote:I have solved it instructions with the reskin were not quite correct.

Re: Missing Train
Hi sorry for the delay, been to footy.
Your instructions properly are right but I tried it first of all as written in the readme and I ended up with cab view and just the coupling between coaches showing up.
Every time I tried the batch file it didn't work. So I deleted the HXC file in the Riviera Line and then run the batch file again and that created another HXC file within the Riviera line. Then I re-installed the rwp file and it then worked. I hope that makes sense.

Re: Missing Train
That's slightly odd, as the batch commands finish with ones to delete both 7-Zip stand alone extractor and the .bin itselfwhiteij7544 wrote:and then run the batch file again
By rights you shouldn't have had it there after successfully running it once so it'd be handy to track down the cause of it not running.
Have you the game installed in the default location of Program Files/Program Files (x86) ?
If so, Window's own system file protection routines may have kicked in to prevent changes to what it considers *important* system files that shouldn't be changed.

Re: Missing Train
Yes I have it installed in the default place.
I think what I did was installed the rwp then ran the batch file. Then I looked in the HXC folder and the relevant files that the batch should have put in place weren't there. Hence the train not showing up externally in the game. So I then deleted the HXC folder and the batch file was still there so I ran the batch file again. The HXC folder reappeared I looked in it and all the relevant files were now in place. So I re-installed the reskin rwp via the package manger. That placed the rest of the files in the HXC folder and the train appeared.
It does appear that doing it the way the read me suggests didn't work for me. I am running Windows 8.1
