Hi, I think he means the ones that appeared halfway down some platforms on the track - in addition to the ones at the ends!

I haven't seen the free reskin and haven't commented on it!gptech wrote:Would the blue and blue-grey ones have had the high intensity headlight?theorganist wrote:They look good, however the plain blue ones wouldn't have had black cab window surrounds.
If not, it could be a case of double standards being applied---the free reskin may have *right* windows, but may be flawed by having the *wrong* lighting so which one would be the 'wrongest'?
The high intensity lights came in in the 90's IIRC so a few may have had them at the end of their lives but probably not the blue/grey ones. I think the black windows surround probably jump out at me more to be honest and especially on the blue one they are particularly out of place.

I'm not saying it gets them off the hook, but I think people wrongly assume the DLC team are enthusiasts or semi-interested.gptech wrote:Would the blue and blue-grey ones have had the high intensity headlight?theorganist wrote:They look good, however the plain blue ones wouldn't have had black cab window surrounds.

For several years there's been a blue/grey 121 with black windows and high intensity light on it, and with the advent of digital imagin although it is one example it would by far be the most prolific result in a Google search for blue/grey class 121 images.

Sorry Peter, the comment about the (rather good) reskin by Mungo and the inaccuracy (if any) of the base model wasn't aimed at you specifically.theorganist wrote: I haven't seen the free reskin and haven't commented on it!

How close are these to the real thing?

Those two look very good.
I like accuracy as far as possible but I am definately not a rivet counter. However the black window surrounds really stood out and are enough to stop me purchasing them.
Now I know about the re-skins I will be taking a closer look.

Re: Class 121 repaints on marketplace
I just used Mungo's as a guide to which bits mapped to where and adjusted the marketplace versions accordingly, slimmed down the BR logo in the decal (guessed would be more accurate) and produced a new alpha channel for it. If there's any interest in them I'll do a bit more, adding a 'W' prefix to the numbers for example.theorganist wrote:Now I know about the re-skins I will be taking a closer look.

Hi,
Yes it looks a lot better with the small logo.
I certainly would be interested, thanks.

Hello, Yes I have to agree with your observations. If the marketplace version had been released with the care that gptech has taken in the details, I would have purchased this ( particularly if the headcode box displayed it's code). If I understood the use of alpha channels I might have attempted this myself. It's a very nice repaint you have made gptech.theorganist wrote:Hi,

Please.... you're bulling me up too much there!!hokitika67 wrote:a very nice repaint you have made gptech.
All I did was use Mungo's reskin as a guide to identifying which bits of the .TgPcDx mapped to where on the model and just copy/pasted bits of the existing texture file, or just 'flood-filled' sections---99% of the livery is just as it comes 'out of the box'
Unfortunately the headcode box is like the NSE base model and isn't configurable, though a headcode itself could be added in the textures. To have it truly dynamic and capable of displaying different headcodes would mean the model changing, or the addition of something along the lines of 'whatever was added' to the AP version of the Western.
Both these Marketplace offerings are based on the NSE pack, so it's not surprising that the textures used haven't had the black bits changed, particularly when you consider that the running example in Blue/Grey, as shown by Matthew above, has the black surrounds--I believe this is 960014 (ex 55022) which is a route learning unit based at Aylesbury (http://www.hondawanderer.com/960014_Hat ... n_2008.htm) so as a present day livery the Marketplace offering is pretty accurate.

Hello and thanks for the info. Credit is due to Mungo for the work on the reskin in the first instance and having now seen this Iam more interested in the 121 unit. I follow your reasoning regarding the marketplace examples representing later variants. Perhaps an original headcode box all yellow fronted version may still yet materialise..... Thanks again

Nice work - but don't use it for Passengers - it's a Departmental unit.gptech wrote:Having seen the pics of the Chiltern 121/960 in Blue/Grey... (http://www.hondawanderer.com/960014_Hat ... n_2008.htm)

But the Only 121 in Blue and Grey with black windows and high intensity light on it did not run in BR days with the Double Arrows - it's a Chiltern Departmental unit.deltic009 wrote:I'm not saying it gets them off the hook, but I think people wrongly assume the DLC team are enthusiasts or semi-interested.gptech wrote:Would the blue and blue-grey ones have had the high intensity headlight?theorganist wrote:They look good, however the plain blue ones wouldn't have had black cab window surrounds.

The Black window surround only came after Blue and Grey had finished.

Yeah, that's why the child object for the passengers has been removed, and another driver and instructor added to the cab749006 wrote:Nice work - but don't use it for Passengers - it's a Departmental unit.
Yeah, that's why it has a "Chiltern Railways" logo on it instead of 'arrows'749006 wrote:But the Only 121 in Blue and Grey with black windows and high intensity light on it did not run in BR days with the Double Arrows - it's a Chiltern Departmental unit. The Black window surround only came after Blue and Grey had finished.
This particular unit (960014, ex-55022--L122) was repainted back into Blue/Grey from NSE livery; they obviously didn't bother doing the front, hence the NSE logo under the window.
We've already agreed that black window surrounds on the blue and blue/grey marketplace is *wrong*, hence the pair pictured earlier with revised textures--this last one was just a side project.
