POSSIBLY - Can't really say yes or no until the idea has been developed a bit further.

I was going to say I hope you have some freight turns - then I realised it's FGW and they
only do passenger work. Dur.....

Is that wise? In any poll/election/vote the 'floating voters' hold the most power---would you be better off finding out why they're undecided?

The idea's certainly interesting; I'm all for anything to add interest (whether it appeals to me or not) but I have to wonder if you're limiting yourself by making it just FGW.

Six or seven years ago, within MSTS, Bob Artim over in the USA created the Cascade and North Western RR. This virtual route was extremely popular because it was something new.The idea was that you signed up to work for the C&NWRR and then you were given an activity, you were also given the repainted stock that was needed to complete this activity. Once you had completed the activity and sent off a screenshot showing your prowess, you were then allocated another activity, along with the rolling stock required.
This VR was based on the ADFRR, which was a route that offered plenty of scope. Basically you progressed around the route in a clockwise manner working activities from one place to another. Everyone who had signed on as a driver had to make their way around the track in a logical manner.
So to make this work they had to have reskinners to create the rolling stock, activity writers to create the tasks, and administrators to monitor who was doing what, how and when. And really all the stock and activities had to be created BEFORE the railroad started hiring drivers.
I wish you all the best in your venture, but try and consider the pitfalls that may occur and sour peoples expectancy. I would suggest that you use a freeware route, NE Rails by Joe Whittaker and that is only because it is a personal favourite of mine, and that you pick one of the popular rail companies that do a varied amount of activities i.e. DRS or DB Schenker, there you have freight and passenger work.
You then need to create a database that will give out a scenario, log in the fact that you have completed that scenario, and then be able to give you the follow up scenario along with the stock needed to complete it. It wont of course matter if you have already got the stock, this is just to ensure that everybody have the tools that they need.
As I said earlier, I wish you all the best, there is nothing nicer than a breath of fresh air.

Its either a yes, or a no to see if there is enough interest, its called "Market Research" once we know if there is a product to be formed from it, then we can begin to mould it to what people want.
I am only doing Great Western because I travel with them frequently, they have the right amount of rolling stock to suit most peoples interest.
If people want to copy this idea for CrossCountry, London Midland, Virgin Trains etc. they are more than welcome too... But I will remain a 'Great Westerner'

I've always thought market research was to gauge the average mood of those questioned, not to determine the level of polarisation

. But anyhow, it's your project to mould as you feel fit and I really do wish you success with it.

Why would they want to copy your idea, your idea is not new, and it appears to be that your ball is red and if anybody else wants to play with a different coloured ball, then that's up to them.
Sounds kinda nice.
