Can someone tell me, please how to legally get past Steam's "You Already Own This Item" proclaimation. Where it stops you from buying something twice. I already know about it previously, but need to get another Class 455, How do I get past this, without stuffing it all up ? Thank you kindly for helping, if you can.

Regards...

You cannot full stop. Reading in your other post that you are trying to run some Workshop scenarios which use the Class 455. If you can name these scenarios perhaps someone can subscribe to them and see what your issue is.

You sound rather like you're admonishing a child, rather than an adult, which is what I am. Honestly. And I can't recall what these two or more scenarios are, so sorry for that. This should not be the case, as someone might need another copy of such and such file. We are adults, and should be permitted to do such a thing, as we're paying for these models, as it's our money, isn't it ? Such a thing, should be possible, within reason. I want to contact Steam about this, but it's not easy, as it looks like it's only for people who need something very badly indeed, which is correct. WHY does Steam have to make it quite so difficult ??

Do a verify cache to correct broken files. You can also uninstall the class 455 and reinstall it as already mentioned in your other post.

Hi Jim, the good thing about steam is that you only need to buy it once! You can repair, reinstall and replace to your hearts content for yourself. If you want to buy it for someone else, when you purchase at the store, you choose the gift it option. To gift it, you just need to know the Steam user name of the person you want to gift it to and then you will be able to buy it again for that person - anything you buy for YOURSELF from steam is only for your account. :)
Hope this helps
Mark

Hi Jim,

Even if you take the drastic method of deleting the Class 455 and then reinstalling it again from steam,it will just be the same as the one you already have,it hasn't been changed since it's release.

Just wondering have you got the AP class 455 Sound Pack and the extra stock pack that comes with this pack?,it could be that you need these items.

I think the fault lies with the 2 Scenario's not the Class 455,I have down loaded some steam workshop scenario's and they have had mistakes in them,re stock needed.

Have you got the reskins for the 455? as sometimes that is where the problem occurs, and we are not treating you as a school kid just trying to help, and the greatest help is knowing what scenario is causing the problem and what route it's for.

(Sighhhhh) I might as well get into it all over again ! To lessen your confusion a little, it's because I was playing a scenario, and decided to change to a different one, and discovered it needed a Class 455 EMU, probably as an AI train, I suppose. But, as I already own a Steam Class 455. I was slightly confused at the beginning, as to why it couldn't be found, and thought it was because I thought it originally from tsomewhere else, but had bought it so long ago, I forgot where it originated from. And thought if I deleted the Class 455, to avoid duplicate problems, and used a Steam Class 455, it would solve the problem quicklly enough, but after deleting the Class 455, I found that I couldn't buy it again. Really dumb, as someone might have a valid reason for wanting another copy. It's our own money, after all ! I think it's high time Steam changed it's own rules slightly, to let people buy a model if they want/need to. rather than going without. It's too hard to reach Steam, to tell them what I need to do, because they make it too hard to get hold of them, as they're not like the TS2015 company, providind a simple email address to reach them. It'd be easier to reach God, than try to get hold of Stream. A quick email, to explain my problem, and that's it. Who do they think they are, anyway ? Making it so incredibly hard to reach them. Steam is not a very friendly business, as far as I 'm aware.

Seems like I don't actually remember what the name of the scenario was, unfortunately ! All I'm really interested in, is getting the copy of the Class 455 back, but it seems like there's no way at the moment. Too hard to get hold of Steam. WHY ?? Should be as easy as getting hold of TS itself, but no !!

Jim,

The 455 that this scenario is asking for, what exactly does the error/whatever say when you attempt to run it?. I am sorry if you have posted this info before but if you could just indulge me I will try and narrow down the actual reskin of the 455 out of those available that it is after. Or alternatively, post a screenshot of your Thomson\Class455Pack01 folder and we can then see what you have in there.

You already have the 455. You do not need to buy it again. Steam is doing you a favour here by telling you you already have it. In what might seem somewhat of a paradox in this day and age, it is trying to stop you spending more money than what you have to.

Hope this helps,

Hi there !

I know it's trying to do me a favour, by stopping me spending more money (At least Steam is honest !) But hang on there... I want to check something.... I just looked into the folder on my HDD, and found the Class 455 there. I KNOW I deleted the Class 455 myself, but in my moment of forgetfulness, I overlooked even THINKING about whether or not Steam would look in my Trainsim folder, and restore the missing Class 455 for me. Why did'nt ANYONE even try to explain that to me, and I would have remembered, and decided it was a headache for nothing (!!), but I genuinely overlooked that little thing. I'll try to find the one or two scenarios that have need for an AI Class 455, and let the writers know that this is what they want. Geeze, it was a headache, while it lasted, though ! Sorry, and thanks for trying to help, anyway. (Looking bloody sheepish !)

Maybe I'm missing something here but . . . It doesn't matter if you have edited it and screwed it up, or completely obliterated it from your hard drive. When you do a full File Verification, Steam will download the correct DLC again and build it into your file structure.

I can't imagine any situation where that would not fix it for you.

Sounds like the authors used a specific 455 repaint but forgot to mention it.. Just swap it with RWtools. Cheaper than a new copy of 455 that you dont need.

Could you put the link to the workshop up..
