How to find a Scenario's "Go Via" parameters?

Post by wad53 »

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but here goes:

Recently, I've been running a few Steam Workshop scenarios, but unable to get the completion tick due to "missing" a Go Via point. I pass through the correct way point ok, but it doesn't give me the tick for it, so the whole scenario fails. I can complete the scenario ok, so not a huge issue, but I'd like to understand it more.
When I reported the problem in the Steam Workshop, the Author advised the needed Passing Time and Speed for that waypoint, which then allowed me to complete it. I've since struck the same issue again in other scenarios.
My question: Is it possible to easily check for these parameters using the games Scenario Editor, and if so how? Alternatively, is it possible using RW Tools, I don't have it so it may require a steep learning curve.
If I knew these parameters, I could then adjust my speed (hopefully) to get the completion tick.

I've looked through the Scenario Creation Forum but couldn't find a reference.

Warren.
Don't know about RW Tools, don't have it, but if you can open the scenario in the editor, in the top left fly-out click the clock icon and this will open the timetable view. Click on the (P) train and in the right side timetable click on each hand icon. If it's a "go via" it will have the passing speed in mph in one of the boxes part way down.

Hope this helps. John.

RW_Tools can give you a summary and also provide some level of detail for each event/instruction.

However, it occurs to me that what you're describing is the normal function of a timetabled scenario, i.e. you have to hit each waypoint/instruction, e.g. pick up passengers, stop at, go via, etc. at or before the prescribed time for you to get a tick in the box. These times will be visible upon entering the scenario by hitting F1 and viewing the work order. Moreover, if you have the F3/F4 display open, the next instruction will have a scheduled time and an ETA by it so that you can see if you need to speed up or not.

Can you elaborate on what the author said? I'm wondering if they've used either a non-zero speed at the instruction, or indeed a zero value which would mean an obligatory stop.

Apologies if I've misunderstood your question.

Thanks Rik,
I'm ok with the ones that list the timetable with the instructions in F1, but the ones giving problems simply state "Go Via xxxxx" without any timings.

Here is his reply to my first query: "I found the issue, the go via instruction at Manors says to pass it at 17:40 and at 40 MPH, i'll change it and release an update".
As it turned out, I needed to exceed speed limits to meet the criteria, but once I did, I got the tick.
For the most recent scenario, here is his reply: "I set it to non-timed and at 125 MPH, but I didn't get the tick either, but it was already on the workshop."
In both cases, the author has decided to post updated scenarios, which is fine, but I was hoping to be able to see what the "hidden" criteria was so I can maybe fix it myself.

Thanks John, I'll check this out, looks like what I need.
