Which route to get?

Post by Alexfenn591 »

Hi,

With the steam sale underway, I thought I'd pick up a route, but I am not sure which one to get. I am either going to buy Isle of Wight, Liverpool - Manchester or Settle - Carlisle. What do you guys think?

Isle of Wright assets are used in quite afew freeware routes. Settle - Carlisle is a more intresting route to drive plus it is a route used by a lot of freight and railtours so more choice of scenarios. But they are all good routes.

Settle to Carlisle is a good route and possibly gets you the 1975 workshop version as well if you have the right assets.

Isle of Wight is good for asset dependencies for a lot of freeware stuff.

Liverpool to Manchester is a very well done route, love that bit in the cutting for some thrash.

I would go for Liverpool Manchester route, it's very nicely done and I like it a lot. The others I have too, second choice would be Settle Carlisle.

One other point you might like to consider is that you get quite a lot of rolling stock with the Settle - Carlisle route that is also used quite a lot in scenarios on other routes. The 158 and 66 included are not the most up to date models, but in terms of variety of stock I don't think any other add-on has anywhere near as much
