This pack doesn't support the old discontinued class 101. Please see the product page for the packs it does support.

Thank you everyone for the kind words, they're much appreciated. I acknowledge the gear lever situation isn't ideal but it's the price paid for changing it to the more realistic way of operation. Admittedly some may not see this as a price worth paying but either way someone would have been left disappointed.

Speaking for myself Richard, I find the new gear lever arrangement much, much more realistic, seeing as I'm a serial keyboard driver. That being said, the new Cl.101 experience is so effective (imo), that I found myself driving with the mouse just to fully appreciate the clunkiness of the gear changing!

Thanks for bringing such a great sound set to our sim.

Hi Rich, OK, why does the pack affect the old one? Just curious. :-?

No files are placed in the Class101Pack folder so it should be impossible for the old pack to use the new sounds as default.

Curious that the sounds have changed? Are there any shared files at all that could cause this?
And can anyone confirm this change if they have both the old 101 and soundpack installed?

No shared files at all as all of the packs are self contained, very odd indeed!

markpullinger wrote:Hi Chris, I had been trying to get the order changed for a long time so my controller works properly with these gears - if you look at the cab gear lever you will see that the order is N 4 3 2 1 with 4 being the coasting gear so it is 1 notch to neutral. Trying to get that to work with a lever when the sim wants N 1 2 3 4 is a mechanical headache! I think that if you use a range in the hundreds you can swap things about - the same as some of the units use for the stepped brakes.
Mark, can you be more specific when you say " use a range in the hundreds"? What range, and where?!

I'm fine (in fact VERY happy) with the order (from bottom to top) N-4-3-2-1 (i.e. AP reflecting the Real World) as opposed to the original N-1-2-3-4. But what really gets me is the fact that when I am in 1st, the HUD displays 400, 2nd - 300, 3rd - 200, and 4th - 100 (I'm talking the non-AP expert version).

It just bugs me to hell! I find it difficult to believe there isn't some way around it to display the numbers correctly or, ideally, single digits 1-2-3-4 as with the original. But as I said previously, I'm not a programmer.

I remain optimistic that someone out there has a workaround to produce the "correct" gear display while using AP's new gear setup. Meantime, I remain "bugged"!

And let me say, to make it clear - this is a fantastic sound upgrade and the revised mechanics add to the experience. I'm not complaining about the package - in fact I'm praising it! - but I just hope there can be something done, somewhere, by someone, to fix the display of the gear you are in!

Now correct me if I'm wrong here but non of the green variants were included in the "newer" packs right? Well the green ones that are present in the old pack have the cabs of the newer versions? I am not sure what has happened here? The new sounds are indeed present but none of the in-cab engine sounds are there, the gear change is as the old version and the switch and lever sounds of the new AP pack are there?

Any chance you're using a green reskin of one of the newer packs?

Its possible Rich, but I do not remember installing any reskins? Are there any? I am going to investigate further in the editor, this is making my head spin!

Not that I'm aware of but then I struggle to keep an eye on the freeware scene these days :(. The only sure-fire way of finding out is running the scenario you're using the green 101 on through RW Tools and checking the location of the green 101 .bin files.

I've just checked all my new 101 new packs and there are no green variants in any.
Well I edited a scenario and placed the old 101 packs whiskers green livery, indeed the cab is of the new one and partially AP soundpack enabled? One horn sound (spacebar), instrument switch sounds, bogie run sounds including brake rub, no engine sounds at all, and the original gear selection with no related sounds. :-? :-?
Wonder if RSC did an half hacked attempt at appeasing the old packs owners?

Seems a shame there is no conversion for the original 101,as one who has purchased packs in the past I think its very shortsighted, must be quite a few with the originals.

Unfortunately applying the sounds to different packs is very time consuming due to the number of changes required to the numerous blueprints. With the old pack containing seven liveries and having been discontinued for a couple of years now, we concluded that it wouldn't be an economical use of our time. This sound pack has probably taken the longest of any to date to develop so time was running particularly short with many other bigger projects needing attention. Apologies!

The green 101 could be the class 111 if you put the DTCL unit as the main unit with a driver in a scenario it gets called a class 101. I've noticed that with workshop scenarios I downloaded.
