The Workshop... Again !!

Post by ka959 »

Has anyone, perhaps, noticed that the Workshop files, that have already been chosen already, for download, previously, appear to be, next time you chance to visit the Workshop, and brouse through the files once again, searching for and latest additions, actually are unselected ?

This has been happening for the previous few days, so far, and the Workshop files have been inaccessible, except for forcing you to perform a search for a file, or files you may wish to load and play, which I really don't have too much trouble having to do this now and then, I guess, but this problem with the non-access to the newest Workshop files, has been going on for as long as TS2015 has been around, and no proper fix in sight ! How long does it take to rectify a problem like this ?? The next twelve months ?? Who knows ?

Regards...

Never noticed that Jim. I actually have the reverse. I have more WS scenarios/routes than what I have subscribed too.

It's certainly not a problem for me Jim, and nobody else seems to be posting about the issue.

As it could well be a problem with your PC or Steam/TS2015 configuration that might be up to you to decide.

Can you pick a particular item you've subscribed to and walk us through exactly how, and what happens?

No issues here I can see.. I think that does happen though if the author either updates it or removes it, are you sure thats not the issue..One other thing to check, can you tell if your pc is doing the sync with steam at the end of each session - this does seem to be an issue .. I seem to remember Matt on the steam forums posting this causes issues with this and achievements (which could explain why this game must have the lowest ever achievement levels on steam by a long way - in fact the way they read at the moment is impossibly low suggesting people buy the game but dont actually play it)

I haven't looked into it yet, but I also appear to have seen previously subscribed scenari not showing up as such on subsequent occasions.

Jim, do you mean that when you view the Workshop offerings, either via the Steam client or the in-game browser, that previously subscribed to items don't show as being subscribed?
As there is a filter named 'Subscribed items' it could well be that's intentional--afterall, you're there to browse rather than check what you've already got. Admittedly that could be seen as a flaw in the system, but it's hardly a huge problem as clicking on an item and finding out you've already subscribed doesn't hurt anything and doesn't take much time.

That still doesn't explain your complaint that you have no access to the newest Workshop files, could you explain a bit further what you mean by this?

It is happening to me.
Opening the Worksop - when you subscribe to a workshop scenario/route a tick appears on the icon of the scenario or route. The next time that you open the WS and you are going through the pages of scenarios etc you can see at a glance what you have already subscribed to. BUT, in the last few days these ticks no longer appear (or disappear quickly) even if you subscribe to a scenario and then just change the search parameters such as choosing "GB" in the country list. Now you can ONLY tell what you have subscribed to by going to "SUBSCRIBED ITEMS"

Yeah, I can see that being a bit of a pain if you subscribe to lots of items, but as above clicking on one of the items does then let you know you've already got it. Annoying, but not as serious as the *problem* of not being able to access the newest files---that's the one I find worrying.

I agree minor annoyance - but it was extremely useful now I have to use the snipping tool and take a pic of my subscribed items so that I know what I don't need to tick again!! Have reported it to STEAM.

The "fix" possibly for the "newest" files" may be to delete (or rename) the \STEAM\clientregistry.blob file and see if that allows the files to be displayed again??

You can view your subscribed items from inside TS by going into profiles then clicking on the Workshop tab and they well start showing in the window on the on the left. I think they must download from Steam as it takes a we while for them all to show up. You just use the scroll bar on the right to scroll through them.

I don't know. A lot of them I cannot run as I don't have the assets for them.

If it's just the rolling stock assets and not the routes, RW Tools is the answer.

Worth a shot certainly, but you can view your subscribed items through a browser window without having the Steam client/service running which could mean the information is stored remotely.

Jim, can you access the newest additions by going into the workshop through http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/b ... ppid=24010 ?
