Hello,
Hoping someone can relate to this. I've posted this on the route building section but had no reply as I don't think many people have been browsing that section.
Each time I create a route for TS, I come to test the loco on the route, it appears jerky all of a sudden. A route I am working on at the moment doesn't have much scenery at all. But as I am making a 3rd party route, for my own enjoyment, and hoping to publish it one day. I see some routes that are 3rd party and when I go to drive on the route it runs sweet as a nut, even with dense foliage and buildings.
Has anyone else had this problem and can it be solved?
I know turning down the graphics settings can help, but I've turned it down that much that it looks like I'm playing on minecraft and still no joy
Sometimes I think I'm not destined to have a well behaved computer
Cheers
David

How heavily detailed is the route, and what is 'the loco'?davvydo wrote:Each time I create a route for TS, I come to test the loco on the route,
Do you use the same loco everytime?
Have you sent the route to a chum to see if it works on his/her system?
As other routes work OK I'd be inclined to look at the input side of the computing setup...davvydo wrote:Sometimes I think I'm not destined to have a well behaved computer

Hello and thanks for the reply.
Hardly any detail at all. Platform, shed, sidings, a few trees. But i do have water, could that be a reason? I haven't tried turning down the detail on it now I remember. I shall try that.
I've used 56XX, 2F dock tank, J94, Jinty.
I have the graphics set to FXAA as it works best for my PC.
Could it be down to the fact that I'm using the default ground texture?
Cheers

With very few assets in there it's unlikely that a detail level set too high would cause bother, particularly as the other routes run OK so I'd be more inclined to look at how you're going about it, but as you have water in there it'd be daft not to test it to find out.
Are all those locos 3rd party ones?....I'd try with a nice simple RSC/Kuju supplied diesel, say the class 47 if you have it. No advanced features or scripting, fewer particles etc to eat up resources.

This may sound a bit counter-intuitive, but if you are not using an FPS cap, routes with very little scenery can appear more "jerky" than normal because your FPS rate is spiking a lot. Whereas where there is a lot of scenery, the frame rate is usually lower but more consistent.
Re: Hope this is relatable
I had some of the same problems as you, and I did the same as you turned down the graphics. But now I run with fix framerate and Borderless, and I am now able to turn up for the graphic settings.
Normally I can create senarios in borderless, but if it gets to tricky, so I do it in Windowed mode.

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated
I've tried turning the water detail down and it seems to have done the trick

Cheers for the help

I understand where you're coming from on that one, i have another route in the making. with more scenery and I can actually see what you mean when I compare the performance of the two routesFoggyMorning wrote:This may sound a bit counter-intuitive, but if you are not using an FPS cap, routes with very little scenery can appear more "jerky" than normal because your FPS rate is spiking a lot.
