Hi JustRight,
I have had a try at getting WHL to run on TS 2014 but without RW Tools (I haven't got it yet). I have unpacked all the asset and content ap folders, manually edited all scenario and route weather xml files to Kuju/RailSimulatorCore weather files. Deleted all old weather files inside and outside ap folders but when I try to run any of the WHL scenario's I keep crashing to the desktop. Am I trying to do the impossible or can you give me any pointers in the right direction.
All the scenario's are still in career mode, I cant see why it shouldn't work because I'm sure that I have deleted all the SilverLining weather files.
Regards,
Pete.

What you have described sounds OK. However, when using RW_Tools to edit a 'Career' scenario a warning is displayed saying that they can't be edited, and must first be changed to a 'Standard' scenario, after which we can edit to our hearts content. Now I'm not sure if this is just because editing a 'Career' scenario prevents TS2014 from handling it properly as a 'Career' scenario, or if there is a deeper reason.
Looking at my "ScenarioProperties.xml" files, I can see the following chunk's of code:
Code: Select all
<WeatherBlueprint>
<iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
<BlueprintSetID>
<iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">Kuju</Provider>
<Product d:type="cDeltaString">RailSimulatorCore</Product>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
</BlueprintSetID>
<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">Weather\RW_Cloudy_Snow.xml</BlueprintID>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
</WeatherBlueprint>
Code: Select all
<ScenarioClass d:type="cDeltaString">eStandardScenarioClass</ScenarioClass>
The ScenarioClass section seems to define the 'type' of the scenario. You could try changing that as well. Unfortunately I don't know if RW_Tools does anything else when cloning a Career Scenario and the changing it to 'Standard'.
When I was having these crash to desktop errors it was because there were BIN Files in the "/Thomson/FortWilliamMallaig/FortWilliamMallaigAssets.ap" file that referenced the new SilverLining weather system. We have to get rid of ALL references to that system, which is why you delete those weather blueprints from within the AP file.
Just to be sure, have another look in the AP file, just to be sure they have been deleted.
Other than that I'm not sure what to suggest, sorry.
Trevor

Good news, glad you got it sorteddrafter wrote:Thanks for the tips and encouragement Justright.
It took me a few tries with that Weather folder and updating my 7zip to a more recent version but alas, it now loads and is operating fine in Ts2014.
I'm one happy camper, Thanks again.

Hi Trevor,
Thanks for your reply, yes my ScenarioProperties.xml files look the same as yours, different weather conditions of cause, it took me ages to do manually but if I can get it to work it will be worth the effort. I think I will give it a break then have another look to make sure I didn't miss anything, I do all my mods on my laptop first to see if they work that way I don't make a mess of my main install which is on my desktop.
If DTG get TS 2015 much better then perhaps I wont need to do the above but I am not that optimistic, some forum members think that TS 2015 is ok well that's their opinion but I certainly don't.
Thanks again,
Pete.

I've no idea if my account permission settings have a bearing on this, but I can happily edit career scenarios with RW Tools and retain the scoring etc. I also don't know if I've had this ability for a while, as it's only under TS2015 that I've had the need, or whether anything's changed within RW Tools.JustRight wrote:Hi there Pete,What you have described sounds OK. Hmmm, that's interesting Garry, thanks. I'll have to try it.gptech wrote:I've no idea if my account permission settings have a bearing on this, but I can happily edit career scenarios with RW Tools and retain the scoring etc. I also don't know if I've had this ability for a while, as it's only under TS2015 that I've had the need, or whether anything's changed within RW Tools.JustRight wrote:Hi there Pete,What you have described sounds OK.
