Marsdonshire Scenario problem?
I have recently picked up this Route in JT's latest sale, and I'm finding it very impressive indeed. The details included are excellent and you wouldn't even realise that it was a fictitious route unless told.
However, the first of the provided scenario's I tried is causing me problems, and I can't finish it.
So, I'd like to know if it just me, or are others also stumped.
The Scenario is "Marsdonshire Coastal Route" using the default Class 166. I'm stuck at the very last signal, just prior to the final Station (Portkeane Platform 2). The signal is red, and it never changes to green, no matter how long I wait. I can see in the 2D map, another train (Service 7) sitting at Platform 1, with a green signal, but it never moves. It seems to be signalled to cross my track. If I try to pass the red signal, my train derails.
Has anyone been able to pass this signal correctly and finish this scenario???

Re: Marsdonshire Scenario problem?
I seem to remember having the same problem, due to the train sitting at the station -- I copied the scenario and removed that train I think. (IIRC, there was quite a lot of AI in that scenario that seemed to be just sitting on the track not going anywhere very much. Perhaps this train was supposed to have moved on by the time you got to Portkeane...?)

wad53.
I've just got this route also, so I tried the same scenario and got the same result. The timings for the train at Portkeane are wrong.
I looked at them in the editor and found that Service 7 is timed to depart at 11:42:55 which means with an arrival time of around 10;45 for the player train you would have to wait an HOUR.
If you can use the editor go into it and alter the start time for S 7 to 10;42:55 and it will work OK. Service 6 is also wrong so you could alter that as well (11:26 to 10:26)
I'll fire off an email to JT and tell 'em.
Hope this helps. John.

Re: Marsdonshire Scenario problem?
Thanks for the feedback guys, at least I know what is happening.
I'm not experienced with the editor, but I'll have a look at it and see what I can do.
Cheers,
Warren

Hi,
I have just tried this scenario and I have the same problem, could someone please explain in idiot proof language so I can understand it, how to edit depart times of A1 trains which requires this at Portkeane Station in order to complete the scenario.
Regards,
Pete.

Re: Marsdonshire Scenario problem?
I was just about to reply "Well, you simply have to learn the basics of the scenario editor" and bla bla bla, when I realised all you have to do to change a couple of starting times is knowing how to access the timetable editor, and it's actually not that hard. Bear with me:Bradforth wrote:Hi,

In the TS main menu, click the "Build" icon:

In the Scenario Editor tab, locate the Marsdonshire route section and select the scenario to edit and click "Edit":

Loading the scenario into the editor will take about the same time as loading a scenario for playing directly.
Then, move the cursor to the upper left corner of the screen to pull out the tools tab in the editor and click
the Timetable Editor icon (the clock with a red first quarter hour):

In the Timetale Editor, the player and AI trains are listed as "services" in the drop-down box at the top left
of the window. Select "Service7" as per jp92214's previous post.

In the service task list to the right, click the engine driver's head icon to bring up a window with the service
details. Edit the starting time (next to the clock icon) and set it back one hour. NOTE that you must end
the edit by pressing the ENTER key for the changes to take effect!

Close the service details box and then the timetable editor by clicking the OK button. All that remains is
clicking the Bottom right orange arrow (play) button in the Scenario Editor. The TS2015 asks whether to
save the changes. Answer yes.
Although the scenario is now loaded to instantly test before quitting the scenario editor, the signalling
etc. tends to be somewhat unreliable in this mode. I recommend quitting to the main menu, then
loading the scenario the ordinary way to test it fully!
Hope this helps!

Re: Marsdonshire Scenario problem?
Thanks also Thulin, much appreciated.
I had already cloned the scenario but was still pretty unsure how to actually do the editing (I had found the timetable for Service 7 but couldn't work out how to change it
).
Let's hope JT fix it for everyone though.

Re: Marsdonshire Scenario problem?
Trouble!! I followed your instructions (which were unbelievably clear) to the letter. However, when I go to "enter". the time reverts back to the original 11:42. Do I have to clone this scenario first?? I tried to edit the original scenario included with the package. Sorry if I appear stupid, but this is my first attempt at such a thing. Thanks for your help.

Re: Marsdonshire Scenario problem?
OK COMPLETELY disregard my previous post. I just tried it again and did the exact same thing. This time it worked like a charm. I must be completely loony tunes. Anyhow, I reset the times as indicated. All I have to do is run the scenario now to see if it works. I once again, compliment you on your clear instructions. Very impressive.

I tested the fix myself before doing the write-up, and had the pleasure of seeing that Portkeane train pulling out of the station just as I arrived, the light changing to green in that exact moment. More a matter of luck than anything else I think, 'cause there was some seriously sloppy driving going on from my end!
