So, is anyone driving steamers with 0.5? How's that working for you?

it works fine at least with IHH 6 MT and a SSS modified version of the RSC Hall class engine.Havner wrote:Much appreciatedgazz292 wrote:Awesome,

Don't know what is wrong so not really. It works just as any other axis and it works fine for me (I think I do have 121 and I have some other gears enabled locos).Natvander wrote:I can't seem to get the gears to work via lever in the Class 101 and 121. Any tips?
This can mean you have 2 levers assigned to one axis (and they are not physically stable and send values changed all the time). I do have liverpool-manchester so I must own 101 so it has it's own section where I probably asign gears axis to the axis I assigned dynamic in the main config section. Have a look at the 101 section and modify accordingly.Natvander wrote:The gear number in the UI changes (but along the lines of 0, 1, 0, 2, 0, 3, 0, 4 - but when I stop moving the lever it returns to 0), however there's no movement in the lever. Using the RR Class 101 (Liverpool-Manchester).
So you have in the main config two variables that have the same axis asigned? Like:Natvander wrote:and have the gears shared with dynamic brakes (axis 11).
That is correctHavner wrote:So you have in the main config two variables that have the same axis asigned? Like:Natvander wrote:and have the gears shared with dynamic brakes (axis 11).
DynamicBrakeLine = 11
GearsLine = 11
Yes I can change gears with keyboard, and with joystick buttons.Havner wrote: EDIT: you definitely seem to have something resetting the gears value to the 0 position, fighting with your axis. I just can't think of what it might be. Can you set the gears position with a keyboard? There are sitiuations where game forbids you to do something (eg dynamic brake in US locos) and resets the value to 0 every time you modify it with an axis.
Nothing comes to my mind. I'll have a look again when I'm at home.Natvander wrote:Yes I can change gears with keyboard, and with joystick buttons.
Ok...tried moving the gear lever after being in 2nd and 3rd gear - the number in the UI still flickers but then returns to the correct gear. The lever doesn't move.Havner wrote:Nothing comes to my mind. I'll have a look again when I'm at home.Natvander wrote:Yes I can change gears with keyboard, and with joystick buttons.
One last question:
With this setup set the axis to 0, increase gear by keyboard. Get the train moving. And while having the gear at 2-3 position move the gear axis from 0 to some other value. Will it go back to 0 after you leave the axis?
Also check the trainsim-helper-joystick.txt after the value gets back to 0. What is the value of the line 11?
You used a word 'correct' for both of those statements. Let me clarify. In the first one you mean it returns to the gear set by keyboard? So if you set 2. Then you try to change it to 3 by an axis it returns to 2?Natvander wrote: Ok...tried moving the gear lever after being in 2nd and 3rd gear - the number in the UI still flickers but then returns to the correct gear. The value shows the correct number for the position of the lever.
Because of the loco configuration. But I think you are aware.EDIT - Further to that, I remapped the gear lever to another axis (disused) with the same result - on the Class 101 it of course did nothing at all, and the dynamic brake lever had the fluctuating numbers.
Smooth. It wouldn't know the notches by itself. They have to be configured manually.Also, is the default throttle action notched or smooth for unprogramed locos?
Correct for both statements.Havner wrote:You used a word 'correct' for both of those statements. Let me clarify. In the first one you mean it returns to the gear set by keyboard? So if you set 2. The value shows the correct number for the position of the lever.
In the second statement you mean the value in the txt is correct as it shows a proper deflection for the physical axis?
I must have done something wrong somewhere as my 33 Class has a notched throttle.Smooth. It wouldn't know the notches by itself. They have to be configured manually.
