TrainTeamBerlin: Which scenario pack is most recommended?

Post by tnleeuw01 »

Hi,

I bought recently the TTB Loco PlusPacks and they're great for the German standard locos. Now I'd like to purchase in near future also one of their scenario packs and I'd like to know from those who have both, which one would be most recommended to start with - Berlin, or Munich-Augsburg?

I'd love to drive some scenarios that use the Berlin underground stock but it doesn't appear that there are any for the Berlin-Wittenberg scenario pack. (There are some good ones on the Steam Workshop but not with any authentic stock).

Both packs seem to come with interesting scenarios and features.

Both routes are OK, with good parts and more boring stretches.

So overal, which one would be most recommended by people who own both packs?

I thought about making this into a poll, but felt that would not to justice to the pack receiving fewer votes as it could be seen as a vote against one pack...

Thanks for any input!

Cheers,

Both packs are good, but my preference so far has been for the Berlin-Wittenberg pack

As Holz says, both packs are outstanding imo, I can't fault either. Just flip a coin, you won't be disappointed whichever one you get.

Thanks for the advice both of you! :-)

I guess I might put the B-W scenario pack first spot on my wishlist then, since it has rainbows ;-)

More input of others is welcome of course :-)

I have another question regarding these packs - are they self-contained, or do they require addtional assets? (apart from the required routes)
The information provided at their home page is a little bit confusing in this aspect...

They are self-contained, but have extra functionality if you own the PlusPacks for 4 German locos (can be ordered on DVD from German Amazon, containing all 4 PlusPacks in 1, which works out much cheaper than ordering them individually from the website as downloads).

Each scenario has 2 versions: one that uses the PlusPack enhanced locos, and another that requires only default locos (and stock included in the scenario pack).

I was looking at the Berlin - Wittenberg Scenario pack and I was attempting to read about the stock.

Is the stock shown in the manual included or are some other payware items required?
I presume the ICE1, ICE-T, BR101, BR143, BR151, BR218 are normal payware items or a reskin ?
On page 7 of the manual - http://downloads.trainteamberlin.de/TS2 ... ch_V10.pdf - it shows the IC & IR-Steuerwagen - are these included as AI or drivable?

It's a bit difficult to know what is included in the pack.

Thanks

Hi Peter,

My own understanding is, that the BR101, BR143, BR294 & BR151 are the 'default' items, optionally enhanced with the TTB PlusPacks.

All other stock is included, in their own versions.

As far as I understand from their website and manuals however, all this other stock is AI - only and not player drivable which is a pity. Why a BR101 and BR151 are listed amongst the AI - only trains is not clear to me, but these seem to be mostly different paint-jobs and grades of weathering.
Looking closer at the manual, it seems that there might be some drivable trailers: the "Married Pair" coaches from NOB, the IC-Coaches, and the DB Regio Doubledecker coaches. At least, the manual does not explicitly say that these are AI ('KI') only trains, which it does say about the various ICE trains and the engines for instance, and unfortunately also about the trains from the Berlin S-Bahn / U-Bahn... I'd love to be able to drive these! :-)

For everything which is listed as "Weitere (KI-) Fahrzeuge", or "More (AI-) Trains", page 13 of the manual says (translation mine):
The trains introduced below are created as AI-trains for computer-controlled traffic in scenarios. The engines are NOT player drivable. The rolling stock does not comply with the technical and functional level of player drivable trains, can however be used in player trains if needed.
Cheers,

Some of the TTB Steurwagen can be made driveable using the Trainworks patches. Can't post a link at the moment, but it is the same site as the Mun-Gar patch comes from. The KI only vehicles have lower res textures to reduce loading on your PC. No additional payware is required for the packs, but the TTB packs will give you a better experience.

You can get the Berlin S-Bahn train from here: http://www.berlin-trains.de/ . They have a freeware version and there was an option to get a paid for (donationware) version which I bought. The 'Shop' button doesn't seem to work at the moment to get this.

And as payday approaches I have a choice of a TTB pack or the West Highland Railway - both about the same price.

I think the TTB pack is going to win as at some point the WHR will appear in a sale.
And it looks like Munchen - Augsburg will win as a few scenarios for Munchen - Garmisch use the TTB stock from the pack.

Hmm doubt if you would be disappointed with either pack. Personally I like the scenario with the freight train through the storm on Ber-Wit, reminds me of winter up here in my driving days going north.
