Poll: Do you prefer TS2014 or TS2015?

I voted for 2014.

Most of the reasons have been mentioned above, which I won't repeat, but one thing
I noticed the other evening was the poor sound.
I was driving the class 70, at night, and I could hear what I can only describe as 'an old scratchy record (as in vinyl).

What is the point in this? You know fine well DTG aren't going to roll back to a previous version just because some people on a forum are so anal about change.

I didn't like it at first but I'm getting used to it.
FWIW I prefer TS15. But I'm not voting in this poll as it is pointless.

I have to agree. If the poll turns out to be 99.9% in favour of TS2014, then what next?

It is just the menu at the end of the day. On first running TS2015, it took a moment to find my way around but I located all my routes, DG or otherwise, without issue. And hand on heart, it never crossed my mind either way, "ooh I like this" or "ooh I don't like this". Because it was just the menu, I was more interested in seeing how the sim ran, in which incidentally, all my DLC runs fine so far. Certainly not an 'alright Jack' attitude on my part I will add also.

But no matter what is said on here, I strongly suspect it isn't going to make one jot of difference, so I expect we are all just going to have to get used to it (happy to be proved wrong by the way).

Yes the menu is shocking in my opinion, but to say it is "just the menu" is a bit like saying if you went to eat out that you would be happy for the waiting staff to bring you badly scribbled, incomplete and haphazardly structured lists of food for you to choose from, in other words it does matter, but it shouldn't necessarily be the deal breaker.

At this stage, I would have to say that I don't prefer either version and at this point wont be expressing my opinion but in the next few days.............maybe?

Absolutely. I have yet to try it for the first time.

It would be interesting to run a poll a few weeks after it's had a chance to "bed in". If I remember rightly there is always quite a lot of opposition each year when a new version first comes out, until folks get used to it.

Simple choice for me, TS2014

My reasons are the same as others have pointed out, menu, weather system, blue effects etc. with the added addition for me that KX - P'boro would not load at all

Not all about the UI, although it is bad it can be fixed at the moment, but also as has been mentioned the ugly horizon and some of the other consequential effects of the 3d weather.

I agree, but it should be another, separate poll. For me it is not just the menus, I haven't tried the TS2014 menu workaround yet, but suprisingly the menus is something I could probably live with. What I don't like is the increased stuttering (which seems to impact MSAA only) and the blue tint/ugly horizons. Even if DTG fixes it all (including the menus) in the next weeks/months they still seriously impact player experience for that period of time. This is why I think it is good to see the first reactions to the new version rather than waiting for weeks until they fix all the bugs using their paying customers as free testers. The poll ends this Friday, anybody can change their vote if they wish. One week after a release is enough time to get the idea what the new TS is about.

Depends on how you define the community. If it is all those who ever created an account here in the past, but never visit the TS forums, then you're right. But if we change it to "active TS community" I still think it is a good sample to get reasonable figures.

I define "Community" as those that have installed and regularly operate Train Simulation software.
There are many who create accounts, play Train Sim for a year or two and move on, I don't count those in the figures.
My figures are based purely on Google Analytics, Site visits, page views, forum accessed read or write.

Assuming by "Active TS Community" you define it as those that post regularly on Forums, then your definition of "Active TS Community" amounts to around 5.3% of MY definition of community.

Given that "67.2% of the community" (The SILENT MAJORITY) never even visit forums, you may find your quest for EXACT figures very skewed.
They visit the front page, the download library and sometimes the CD Ordering page.

Exactly. The large majority of people who buy TS15 (or indeed any other game out there) may never read a forum - they may not even know of sites like UKTS.

Hi, if you take a look at the worldwide forums,you will find it is not just a few people being a**l about change!
I voted 2014, third party content should be as easy to access as steam/dtg content.

I don't understand how third party content is 'hidden away'?? Mine is as easy to find as any other DTG content!

The other thing that I've noticed people raging about is the lack of route thumbnails? Hell, it's not as if DTG have removed your routes outright, instead of a .png!!

Sorry, but that's simply an untrue and unwarranted assumption. You cannot possibly know what everyone else thinks, so sweeping generalisations such as this are unhelpful at best.
