Was not happy with the new menu, not pulling the hair out! Just tried to drive the Class 801 out of Kings Cross in the new scenarios that come with it and found that trains are arriving at KX with the doors open and the passengers walk along gasworks tunnel. Anyone else had this sort of problem? Only glad I made more back up copy of TS2014 can see me playing this more than TS2015.

When it was working for me (see previous messages in this thread!) I was intially pleased to see that in the asset editors that very annoying scrolling has been replaced with a single click roll to the left. However I had long termed compalned to RSC about the size of the fonts in the right-hand flyout and the error box. Despite having received assuranaces (in writing via Email and Facebook) this has not been resolved (unless there is an option in 'Options' which I can't get at now) and still can't read them?!

What lunatic decided that you need to watch a VERY larged sized video everytime you start the sim?!

Having removed that from the sim it now loads again and I can get on.

Trying to be fair about this it is possible that the downloaded file was corrupted as I sat for over 20 minutes this morning before I gave up - after a verify it was 4 minutes beforethe sim fired up; now it is 30 seconds to get to the menu screens!

This was posted a long time ago about how to remove the opening video. It is still valid so may help others:

Do as I've done. Go to Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\data\videos...

Now rename the only file there (2013_startup.ogv) so that you have a backup... I use 2013_startup.ogv.ORIG

Next right-click in the folder window and select New then Text Document.

Rename the new text document to 2013_startup.ogv

It will be an empty file and you'll never see the video again. It'll load TS much faster.

Huh! All it takes is a quick press of the escape key to skip the intro, or better still turn of the intro all together via the settings in game.

I've been resorting to the 'ESC' method (although the somewhat lengthy clip is better than that with the previous incarnation of TS).
Where in the settings does it let you turn off the clip?.

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

I'm liking it, everything seems to be running silky smooth even around Clapham Junction where it was always stutter for me if there was a lot of traffic. Sounds seem a lot better especially the ambient ones. Notice that a lot of the slam door stock appear to have there doors open. Never use the editor so cant comment, all in all I have'nt experienced any problems apart from missing thumbnails.

Hi all,
as I've not had a response to this query on the Beginners forum. Plus, it looks as if this one is receiving more attention.

I'll re-ask the question again :- just prior to the update, I D/L some of KeithMRoss's scenarios for the WCML and WCML_Shap.
But - the only place I can find mention of these is Main menu>profile>workshop.
On the old menu system, once you found and highlighted the scenario in question. It would load up and run.
Then I used to be able to find those same scenario's in the Routes or Vehicle selection menus.

But on this new system, albeit I've found mention of them, highlighting them does nothing. Ive searched the Routes/Vehicle menus and still cannot find them.
So what am I not doing?

Don't know if this has anything to do with the new version. But just tried a re-run of the WCML scenario "Keep on Moving". Thought I was doing pretty well, until after cresting Beatoock Summit and on my way to Motherwell. I tried a quick look around using key2, only to find instead of the numerous tanks I should have had, there was only two attached to the engine. I quit the game and the report made no mention of unloading any vehicles, so , what gives here. Is it possible to lose wagons w'out purposely decoupling them?

Hi

Settings/Gameplay (seems a slightly odd place to put it!)

The bottom tick box.

Cheers

When the game loads up go to settings (top right) then Gameplay and at the bottom of the menu it says "show intro video" - uncheck this. Worked for me.

DocklandsProject wrote:I'll start with the good points :) Really liking the scale option for assets in the editor, that will give some excellent variation. Since when did trees all grow to be the same size after all. The visible selection of assets is a superb addition and long overlooked- a pity that it stopped working after the first time I used it and just displayed empty boxes. I presume if I left it running it would load up into some sort of buffer for quicker future access but I'm guessing there.

As many have mentioned, the menu system has been completely messed up and overdone. Someone at Dovetail redesigned it and someone at Dovetail said that's great. Both should be sacked. So many missing routes and trains thumbnails.... surely only sheer planned incompetence could have arranged that. The continued elbowing out of third party routes and assets is a deliberate act by a bully. All routes and content bring attention towards their game, they should embrace it not try and hide it.

Overall - they should have left the menu alone and squeezed in the extra editor features with a small upgrade without the usual annual fanfare. Seems to have been a lot of hot air, forced into a round balloon for the sake of having a new square balloon.

I don't often criticise Dovetail because I'm a big boy and I chose what I purchase from them very carefully. This free upgrade finally convinces me that certain people at Dovetail seem fairly.... how can I put this, at odds with common sense?
I agree completely, especially with the statement I've highlighted in bold.

Graphics seem sharper, default sounds seem better (I'll be reinstalling my AP sound packs later after I did a verify to get the Academy) and with the Academy being on everyone's machine, I've found a few assets that will be handy on my route. Menu is a mess, route and loco selections don't have filters and there is a slight performance drop on newer routes like ECML_S.

All in all though I'm ok with the upgrade.
