Scenarios from 3D Zug

Post by holzroller »

There are some scenarios available from this add-on maker that are receiving quite a lot of praise in the German community. All announcements and radio comms are in German, there is no English translation at the moment, but there should be enough info to know what is required. The storm has gained particular praise. So far the required stock is limited to what is available from steam. Seems that some locos can be swapped but you may lose the announcements. http://www.3dzug.de/Train-Simulator-201 ... benpakete/ they are pricey by uk standards, but they come with custom announcements and extras. If you want a taster for less money try this one http://www.3dzug.de/Train-Simulator-201 ... hlag-.html

OK, based on the storm a couple of comments, these scenarios are full of surprises, you may at times end up changing trains mid scenario for instance. I would say that at minimum you need to understand when your train is being cancelled short of it's destination, because F1 will not tell you. The on train announcements will, with something like Diese Zug endet heir as part of the announcement (apologies to German readers). You will also get instructions over the radio, but with the background sounds it can be a little difficult to follow. Personally I was able to get enough information to do what was necessary so far, interesting scenarios.

Seems nice, however, I think that there are too many scenario pack (TTB, Trains and Drivers, 3D Zug) and too few german routes. I mean, yes some scenarios are exciting, but you get bored after the 10000 time you run the 60km of the Munich Augsburg, just to make an example

Somehow I don't think that you will find the Storm boring, But you could have said the same a few years ago about British routes yet AP still managed quite well. There are at least 8 German routes in production that I know off, freeware and payware, so if they see the light of day there will be more variety. Ultimately train driving by it's very nature means driving repeatedly over the same stretch of track, the scenarios by TTB and now with the newer packs, 3D zug try to make it out of the ordinary, and I would say succeed quite well. TAD so far for me are a little more run of the mill, more like a normal days driving where nothing much out of the ordinary happens. In the first scenario of the storm it certainly feels like you are driving on a dark stormy night. As always it's horses for courses, you don't want it, you don't buy it.
