Re: DTG 45
That'd be the sound of the turbo-charger and is one of the few accurate parts of the new sound set; 45s had right noisy turbos and a wonderful sound it is too.....crumplezone wrote:
One thing I noticed the sounds while are not particular to bad, there is a wierd high pitched whistle when at full throttle which really grates on the ears, I thought it was the MK2s at first but throttle back makes the sound go away.

Re: DTG 45
Hi guys, the black skies problem has been fixed in the patch for all of the old locos that I had with this problem - including the peak!
Re: DTG 45
Didn't get it but not to worry, will build up some pennies in the future hopefully - however nothing is coming before South London Network on my list of priorities now.

Sounds like I'm driving a tractor rather than a peak and I see they still have not rectified not being able to see the needle on the dials at night or tunnels (a problem with other models of DTG and their, ahem...upgrades) - unless I turn up the brightness to a ridiculous unrealistic level
Class 40's enjoyed their working life so much they whistled whilst they worked

Come on, give the DTG guys a break here. I'm guessing that you've not read the manual or had a good look around the cab because if you had, perhaps you wouldn't be so quick to criticise. The switch to turn on the instrument lights is on the panel to the left, above the driver's head, if you care to check...scorpion71 wrote:Sounds like I'm driving a tractor rather than a peak and I see they still have not rectified not being able to see the needle on the dials at night or tunnels (a problem with other models of DTG and their, ahem...upgrades) - unless I turn up the brightness to a ridiculous unrealistic level

and the I key turns on the instrument lights for most of the other stuff too - apart from the 117 - not found how to turn them on yet!

Re: DTG 45
I dusted down my original RSC peak recently, in anticipation of this coming out and realised pretty quickly why I'd stopped using it as a player train.
As other have noted, this new release appears to have been reworked. The textures are an improvement, in my opinion, and the loco carries a much improved shade of BR blue and correctly sized double arrow symbols. Gone is the nose-front depot plate and I'm delighted to find that there is no sealed beam headlight. The nose end and cab windows appear to be completely new or at least extensively reworked, and look much more prototypical. We have raindrops, albeit the old, large ones that appear coarsely oversize, missing however is any trace of grime on the windows. The windows on the original were so dark you could barely see through them while the new ones appear to be ex-works. The cab interior appears to have had little done to the model itself beyond some fresh colouring but we have illuminated dials (but not needles, again!) and a cab light and their associated animated buttons.
Given these changes it's appropriate (and a nice, subtle touch) that the loco carries a Crewe builders plate in place of the originals Derby one.
I've yet to have a decent run with it so can't comment on the physics.
The sounds are simply appalling across the board. And there was me thinking that the DTG two tone horn couldn't sink to even greater depths.
If this package had been released four years ago it might have attracted some rating stars.
As a freebie upgrade I'm pleased with it. If I'd paid for it ...

Re: DTG 45
Apologies - having now driven one of the Peak scenarios out of Lime Street, I see your point and I humbly retract my comments above! Even with the instrument lights on, the actual needles on the dials are not illuminated, only the dial backgrounds, so there's no way of telling what the dials show. Oh dear....ashgray wrote:Come on, give the DTG guys a break here. Re: DTG 45
Isn't that a step up from the original (non Steam) though, as that has no illumination on the dials at all--or not as far as I can see anyway.ashgray wrote:the actual needles on the dials are not illuminated, only the dial backgrounds

Re: DTG 45
It may be a "step up" but it's pointless without being able to see where the needle's pointing.

Which makes the illumination pointless then. I suppose somebody could re-texture the needles, make them brighter.ihavenonamenoreallyidont wrote:It may be a "step up" but it's pointless without being able to see where the needle's pointing.

Re: DTG 45
As if you don't already know, I can confirm that the other non Steam 45 got you the free upgrade, as a person on another forum just installed the other non Steam 45 and got the DTG version free.
