Just got this! AMAZING route.
Just ran the 156 to the current timetable. It is almost impossible to keep to the timings.
PC Specs: Intel i5 2.80GHz, 8GB RAM, NVidia GTX 1060 & 240 GB SSD

On the subject of sound packs and scenario packs for this route, is it possible to create a sound pack or a scenario pack without using any elements of the original route package? If it is, then I can't see how anyone can legitimately restricted someone else's abiliaty to release one or the other.

To run to the current timetable the route and Gradients would need to be the same as the real line and the 156 model would need the same power/weight ratio - if the 156 is underpowered then it won't keep time.twirlycactus wrote:Just got this! Just curious - where did you get the times for the run?

It'd be very hard to make a sound pack for any of the included stock items without using those items....tonyburns wrote:On the subject of sound packs and scenario packs for this route, is it possible to create a sound pack or a scenario pack without using any elements of the original route package? The key words with reference to scenarios probably would be:
11.1 End User License Agreement (EULA)
....... In addition to these terms, Thomson Interactive Ltd prohibits any commercial use
or involvement of their products in third party commercial products

The signal at the picture is constant green.

Re: Thompson interactive. WHR coming soon
It is linked to the status of the crossing, which in the picture is closed to road traffic hence the signal is off for trains. Being a single line, I suspect there is not much that can be done about it showing off in both directions, windberg wrote:The signal at the picture is constant green

When I have approached that signal from the Fort William direction it is always red until you are very close to it then it changes to green so it works correctly when going towards it.rfletcher72 wrote:It is linked to the status of the crossing, which in the picture is closed to road traffic hence the signal is off for trains. Perhaps I'm not so cynical, but perhaps they have included that restriction to encourage the production of freeware.

Exactly, and is more than likely doing the same, unseen, in the other direction. Though of course as I now recall, the signal in the up direction protects the swing bridge. Though in a sim/scripting sense it makes no difference what it protects, it will operate in the same way regardless as described above,31466 wrote:When I have approached that signal from the Fort William direction it is always red until you are very close to it then it changes to green so it works correctly when going towards it.rfletcher72 wrote:It is linked to the status of the crossing, which in the picture is closed to road traffic hence the signal is off for trains. Ah, thanks, I understand, it is one of this crossing / bridge protection signals. There are further ones in this route.
It is a lot of fun to drive this route in a Class 156 with Richards sounds!

The timetable from the scotrail website , and realtime trains. I have uploaded the scenario to library, so feel free, to see if you can stick to the timetable.749006 wrote:To run to the current timetable the route and Gradients would need to be the same as the real line and the 156 model would need the same power/weight ratio - if the 156 is underpowered then it won't keep time.twirlycactus wrote:Just got this! Re: Thompson interactive. WHR coming soon
One issue I have noticed while playing the scenario 'Winter Westie'.
The platform starting signals at Fort William will clear to yellow despite the line only being clear up to the first ground signal encountered. This is not correct, as it should not be possible to signal a passenger train up to a shunt signal at danger.
(The scenario allows a late-running parcels train to depart the sidings before the player departs the platform, but the starting signal should remain at red until the preceding train has cleared Fort William Junction.
A limitation with the coding of the signalling, or an error?

Re: Thompson interactive. WHR coming soon
Foggy memory here.... in 1991 we travelled on this line hauled by a steam engine from what I can remember it was a loco designed to run on this particular line having a special wheelbase or something? All I can remember about the beasty was she was green similar to LNER colours? I can't for the life of me remember what class and type it was sure it was a 2-4-0 0r 4-4-0? Pretty sure it wasn't a K1 or 4 but can't swear to it. Anyone know, be nice to recreate it particularly heading into Glenfinnan where she lost adhesion and after several failed attempts the driver had to roll back down the gradient far enough to try again with plenty of sand one would imagine?
!
Just out of interest: http://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/steamtrains/7303.shtml
Ha! That archive has answered my question! It was indeed the K1!
Is it modelled in TS?
