I've just picked up the AP 321 in the sale, but I'm struggling a bit with the driving controls. I normally use the F4 HUD, but I suspect that this doesn't work for all functions in this train.
I'd appreciate some confirmation that my assumption is correct, and that I'm not missing something obvious.
The biggest one is the Reverser, which doesn't respond to the HUD reverser. It does work ok if I use the keyboard assigned button.
Also, the Lights and Wipers don't seem to respond to the HUD clickspots either.
Many of the other HUD / Mouse controls seem ok eg. Power, Brakes etc.
So, does this train basically need to be controlled by using the keyboard? I can't see any references to the HUD in the Manual.

Your spot in
the features of the AP class 321 are advanced. So as you say 99 percent of the controls are done via the keyboard. It is awkward at first if your not used to it however after a few drives you get used to it.
It is a nice train to drive and like most AP assets really really high quality

Are you using Expert or Simple controls for the HUD. Sometimes that effects what does and doesn't work. Keyboard should always work though.

I'm using Expert Controls for the HUD.
Thanks for the replies, I'll just need to get used to changing a few of my driving "habits" with this one. I agree, it's a very nice quality train.

The 321 is a simple unit to drive because you only have 5 positions on the power handle Off,1,2,3,4 which you control with A &D keys and the handle makes a nice clunk when you move from one notch to another.
Same with the Brake handle having 5 positions - Off, Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 and Emergency.
Use the F3 HUD to you get used to it or if you need, like me, to know what speed changes are coming up.
