HST - no brakes

An unfunny thing happened to me this evening while working the 17.15 Paignton - Paddington HST (43 030) out of Exeter.

First stop is Tiverton Parkway. Maintaining line speed (100) a mile and a half out - power off, touch the brakes: nothing! Try harder - still nothing, full application - still nothing. Hit the emergency and we roll through T Parkway still doing 92, breasted the summit at 35 and finally rolled to a stop with the handbrake hard on about 7 miles short of Taunton. Thankfully, nothing in front, but a change of underwear required!

Seriously, has anyone else encountered this problem? A clean start and another HST - same problem, no brakes!

Any ideas, suggestions?
