How does one go about "mending" Broken Consists with RW Tools?

Re: Broken Consists.
The consist is 'broken' as it does not have all the required locos/wagons/coaches.
You use RW Tools Scenario Editor and as you click on each train in the scenario it will tell you if any items are missing
You can then swap something you do have for a loco/wagon/coach which is missing.
However.
When you try to run a scenario and it stops with the Broken Consists error you could push F2 and it will ask you to save.
Providing the Driven Consist has it's Loco/Unit the Scenario will save and run but you might see something strange.
Like if a train was formed of a Class 47, 8 wagons and a Brake van then if you did not have the coaches the train would be a 47 & Brake van.

Re: Broken Consists.
Not always, sometimes the consist is actually broken, sometimes you can go into edit and then play and it will work, sometimes you need to physically join the broken consist, this was the case with a scenario in The Lincolnshire lines

Re: Broken Consists.
You may also see a consist flagged as broken if it straddles some pointwork, with one bogie/axle set on the diverging rails but the rest of the consist is on the straight path. There are probably dozens of other reasons, but just to reinforce what has been already posted; a broken consist is not one with stock missing--the error generated then is of the 'consist builder cannot load rail vehicle' type.
RW Tools will not mend broken consists, you need to load the scenario in editor mode and do as holzroller has posted. Using the 'timetabled view' in the scenario editor (top left flyout, first icon on bottom row that looks like a blue clock with a red quadrant) often shows the problematical consist in the warnings/errors section (at the bottom of the window, a red (?) cross or X when clicked will give details of consists with issues)

Re: Broken Consists.
If you have used RW tools to swap out some stock that you don't have, it could also mean that the consist is longer than before and might not fit into the sidings that the original did, in this case you would need to go into the scenario editor and either move the consist or make it shorter, RW tools will not do this for you

Re: Broken Consists.
Sometimes you can get the broken consist error message to go away just by choosing "Edit" and once the scenario has opened in edit mode, hit the play button. Not sure why that wokrs but it does sometimes.

Re: Broken Consists.
Because it doesn't save the broken consists. You are deleting the problems rather than fixing them. Can be a bit of an issue if the player train is the broken consist or AI workings are complex.robfurness wrote:Sometimes you can get the broken consist error message to go away just by choosing "Edit" and once the scenario has opened in edit mode, hit the play button. Re: Broken Consists.
Most broken consists are caused by track changes in a location where rolling stock has been placed in a scenario, in my experience. The solution: Go into the editor and select the consist and allow it to snap back onto the track.

Re: Broken Consists.
Thanks for that explanation John. I didn't realise it just deleted the broken consists.
