Which 47?
I want to do a couple more class 47 reskins, but there's a small problem.
Should I use the default 47 or the WCML-Over-Shap 47?
I could use the default because pretty much everyone has it but very few will download reskins because for the stability of the simulator the Kuju folder has to be as small as possible.
Or I could use the WCML 47 but that would involve people buying the DLC to get it to work.
Does anyone have a strong opinion on this?

Re: Which 47?
The over shap 47 without a doubt! Much more realistic physics and performance wise.
And if you fancy splashing some paint over the 86 that would be nice too!

Re: Which 47?
Last time I mooched around the forums, the Shap route had only just been released. The major drawback for me was the AP sounds not working with the Shap 47's. Did this get sorted or does it still stand ? For me, default sound would stop me using it even if it had better physics.

Thanks for the feedback. I will ask AP first about the sound pack before making a decision.

Re: Which 47?
The Shap 47 isn't compatible with the AP sound pack. It's simulation is so different to the default engine that the sound pack would need to be redesigned from the ground up, and AP say they don't have the time at the moment.

Re: Which 47?
I believe the AP sounds will not work with the WCML Class 47 because of a different layout in the bin file. [Perhaps this was a deliberate sabotage attempt to make use of the default sounds or just the compiler not knowing/caring], (that's just my view). Also the top speed of this version of 'duff' has been tweeked to 120 mph. Clearly a bit OTT, but I have had one bowl along at 110 mph, but that was half a lifetime ago

Re: Which 47?
for me it would have to be the default one due to the sound issues already stated the AP soundpack really does make it a more emmersive experience for me

Or perhaps, a deliberate attempt to make the locomotive provide a much better driving experience in the sim compared to the older version?Yamsi wrote:[Perhaps this was a deliberate sabotage attempt to make use of the default sounds or just the compiler not knowing/caring]
Just a thought,

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong.xguerra wrote:but very few will download reskins because for the stability of the simulator the Kuju folder has to be as small as possible.
It's statements like that which lead to an outbreak of the FUD syndrome and puts newcomers off trying anything.
ANY Provider/Product pairing folder has the potential to include so many .bin files that stability issues eventually arise, it's not confined to the Kuju/RailSimulator folder.
Granted, as this folder pairing was historically used for everything, dating back to when we knew no better it's the most likely candidate for the 'bloat' syndrome but the size of it isn't the issue, rather a pointer as to where an issue may lie.

WCML 47 gives a much better drive, I just love this engine, shame about the sounds though, would be nice to have more skins for it, I am sure Richard will work his magic on it in the future, but would much rather let Richard sort out some other loco sounds before making this one, as we at least have a choice of either excellent default loco or reworked performance versionrfletcher72 wrote:Or perhaps, a deliberate attempt to make the locomotive provide a much better driving experience in the sim compared to the older version?

The sounds aren't the decider for me for these two loco's having the scripting and accurate physics is, it is a more satisfying drive; I personally would love to see more reskins for these loco's as there are hundreds for the default already folks.

Doesn't make sense to do reskins we already have for the default, there are hundreds of them already, see the UKTS freeware pack?atlasduff47 wrote:Default for me too, as per the mentioned AP issues!

Re: Which 47?
Maybe the reason for doing the reskin is because the required livery is not available ?smarty2 wrote:Doesn't make sense to do reskins we already have for the default, there are hundreds of them already, see the UKTS freeware pack?atlasduff47 wrote:Default for me too, as per the mentioned AP issues!
