Dunno *where* it originally came from, but it's part of the standard installation of the game and lives in the RailWorks folder. Everybody should have it installed by default.davep wrote:Matt
In response to your question "Where is this 'Name My Route' which you refer to?", I cannot honestly say where I got it from.
But I think (from just running it and noticing the menus) that it is German.
EDIT. I'm wrong - totally! RWInfo is the German one. But still don't know where 'NameMyRoute' came from.

Morning it sounds like as if you are opening the MSI file or 'exploring' it rather than actually running. Next time on the .msi installer, try right click on it then Run as admin. It should then do the installation process correctlychrisonline wrote:I'm feeling pretty dumb asking this question, but I just downloaded this route, and when I double click on the .msi file all it does is open a folder listing a load of files. The top one is an .exe. file but if I run that, it tells me there is a problem running it on a 64bit system.
I am totally lost. Where's my .rwp file???? And when I have seen .msi files before, they have behaved like .exe. files. What do I do here? No instructions came with it (and I would generally not need them!)
Clearly this is me because I've seen noone else asking this dumb question!

Re: West Somerset Railway Members Edition V2 OUT NOW!!
Guys I have fresh install of TS without any UKTS stuff or non DTG routes installed.
Exactly which assets/packs are required to get the route in its full glory and scenarios working?
Thanks

From the installation page it states the following:rabid wrote:Guys I have fresh install of TS without any UKTS stuff or non DTG routes installed.

Please note: You MUST Have the West Somerset DLC Installed for This Package to Work
Additional Route Requirements
Isle of Wight DLC(Steam)

UKTS Freeware Pack Blocks and Lofts(UKTrainsim.com)
UKTS Freeware Pack Clutter(UKTrainsim.com)
UKTS Freeware Pack Commercial(UKTrainsim.com)
East Somerset Railway(UKTrainsim.com)

Thanks, but no, I am trying both double click and right-click "Open" (Run is not an option in WIn 7 but it's the same thing), then get the normal certificate "warning", click to confirm Run, then get the folder listing the files. It must be the way the .msi file is set up, but no idea why no one else is having the problem. I'll email their supportkirkheath wrote:Morning it sounds like as if you are opening the MSI file or 'exploring' it rather than actually running. If you use RW_Tools make a copy of the scenario and then edit the copy. Change the start time to 1930hrs and then the station, building, street and car lights will be on. Not so ghostly!firstborn wrote:A quick question about the Foggy Evening scenario.....
I'm seeing the fog... however... Is it also supposed to be pitch black?
I ask because it sort of feels like something hasn't loaded...
I would understand if it was pitch black and all the station lighting (and environmental lighting etc) was on... but it's not... it's just black and i can barely see the loco controls in front of my face

An .msi file is a MicroSoft Installer file...chrisonline wrote: Thanks, but no, I am trying both double click and right-click "Open" (Run is not an option in WIn 7 but it's the same thing), then get the normal certificate "warning", click to confirm Run, then get the folder listing the files. It should run on Windows by default...
You say that windows appears to be extracting the installer file rather than running it... which sort of implies you have (accidentally) associated the .msi extention to be opened by a different programme, as if it's a .zip or .rar file
.msi files should be associated with the Windows Installer program (which ships with Windows)
Try this:
Hit Start button, and type "Defa" in the search
Choose "Default Programs" from this list
Choose "Associate a file type or protocol with a program"
Find .msi
Set it to Windows Installer
Why couldn't the steam loco sit down? - Because he had a tender behind.

Re: West Somerset Railway Members Edition V2 OUT NOW!!
Thnaks firstborn. Actually, what you said made me see the light, and I've fixed it in an easier way - just right click on the .msi file > Properties > and change the "type of file" to Windows Installer (which it offered!). You're quite right, I had it associated with 7zip, which I really can't explain as I have installed with an .msi file in the past (though rarely).firstborn wrote:An .msi file is a MicroSoft Installer file...chrisonline wrote: Thanks, but no, I am trying both double click and right-click "Open" (Run is not an option in WIn 7 but it's the same thing), then get the normal certificate "warning", click to confirm Run, then get the folder listing the files. All good now - thanks very much!
(P.S. I emailed SSS this morning and Matt very quickly and helpfully provided me a link to the basic zipped files to get around the .msi - excellent support for a dummy!)

Re: West Somerset Railway Members Edition V2 OUT NOW!!
Nice one Chris
I've now got my own problem...
I went to do as Peb52 suggested, and edit the 'Foggy Evening' scenario to a later time so the lights come one
But in doing so, RW-Tools instantly threw up an error (before i even edited anything)

When checking both my installed Newbouy assets folder, AND the original download from UKTS... the UK Very Foggy download contains no such folder structure - There is no /Environment/Weather folders
And this appears to be stopping me being able to edit the scenario in RW-Tools
Which is now also making me wonder, if this is why i am just getting a really unrealistic solid flat black sky - seen here

It was those last little bits that had me foxed.
Did I also read somewhere that the GCR v3 should also be installed?

Re: West Somerset Railway Members Edition V2 OUT NOW!!
I initially had a similar problem (required a weather subfolder only, I thought it might have been my installation) so I created the folder and copied the weather files to it. But subsequently noticed that I didn't get the initial message when starting the scenario. So I used the Scenario Editor in the game and made a copy and changed the start time and that one works ok. Looks like RW_Tools doesn't like this scenario. Something may not be quite right with this scenario as after the loading screens it seems to take a long time for the objects to load and display correctly.firstborn wrote:Nice one Chris![]()

No, GCR is not required, it's ESR as shown in the additional requirements for V2.1rabid wrote: It was those last little bits that had me foxed.![]()

@firstborn
I still think it's a problem with the weather file.
I have made no modifications to mine. I've installed the foggy weather. I, too, get the error message if I open the scenario in the RW_Tool scenario editor.
However, my sky isn't black.
