Re: West Somerset Railway Members Edition V2 OUT NOW!!

I've made a small botch up while deleting v2.1 and replacing with v2.2 of this. The outcome being that, in the Windows add remove program listing I now have showing V2.2 (which is successfully installed and running) and V2.1 (which is removed). I have tried couple of ways to try and remove the old 2.1 entry without success including using ccleaner to clear the entry which keeps saying it can't find the v2.1 installer.msi ,which off cause it won't because its been deleted. Unfortunately I've also made the silly mistake of deleting the V2.1 installer which I'm sure if I ran it again (after uninstalling V2.2) then uninstall again in the proper manner will remove the entry. Can anyone help me out there ?

Thanks

Antony.

Can you see the old version in the RS 2014 Package Manager? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

If so, (and assuming it's showing both versions) uninstall it using this utility, rather than the Windows Add & Remove Programs utility, which should just leave v2.2. Any problems - simply re-install v2.2.

Hi Ash, No it doesn't install via the TS2014 package manager the .msi install when unzipped installs the WSR v2.1 .exe from which it installs the route, hence it needing to be removed by the windows add/remove program only. I suppose I could leave it showing there but I like a tidy computer and in my mind when I see it listed when I know its not installed it kind off irks me off so to speak.

Why delete V2.1? It says you just copy straight over that version with V2.2!

I did, In the first instance I just ran thev2.2 installer expecting it to throw a window (like one or two of Matt,s other installers have) that you need to uninstall the old version first, which it didn't . Once installed I, In haste deleted the old V2.1 zipped install files and replaced with the new ones, When I went to look in C/SteamSoundSupreme/ where the .msi installs to before running the .exe installer to install the route into TS2014 I found two folders" WestSomersetMembersEditionV2.1" and
"WestSomersetMembersEditionV2.2" , without thinking I simply pressed Ctrl/Alt/Del to remove the folder, then off cause now when I try to remove the V2.1 entry from the add/remove programs I can't because I haven't the old installer any more.

Hi, use the delete entry option in ccleaner rather than run uninstaller and it should go

Haven't tried the WSR ME yet, but the RSC version has one major (prototypical) drawback

Nothing odd about that; neither would RSC be likely to differ from any other software author in that respect - it is simply that the maximum line speed on UK heritage railways is 25 mph.

Who cares about line speed :-)
If the line looks capable of more, then I do more, and have done on the WSR!
Obviously, if there's pointwork where I'm deviating from the main then I'll slow down.

Ohh, I fully understand the reasons - operating as a light railway etc...

Just that keeping at 25, especially on career scenarios, requires huge concentration but is mind numbingly dull at the same time...

Will definitely install the ME as that sidesteps RSCs career scenarios anyway

Hi,
I've got the latest edition of the route. SSS Manor add on pack plus the sound pack, again all the latest versions. Checked all the scenarios in RW Tools. Have everything that is required, but I have 10 of the SSS supplied scenarios not working as they all show broken consists when loading the scenarios in Train simulator.
Anyone else having this problem. Its a clean install of Version 2.2 from SSS.

Same here Rob. I mailed SSS but no response yet. Hopefully Matt & Co can fix the scenarios as they were very well written and worked fine before the update to the route. And the route itself is superb, putting DTG's version well in the shade.

The combination of the route itself, the accuracy & authenticity of the SSS locos and sounds, and the imaginative way the scenarios have been written makes for the best experience currently available on TS2014 IMHO (at least it will be again if those scenarios can be fixed).
