DR BR 243 Expert Line coming from VR

Post by holzroller »

http://www.vidzfromhell.de/ts055-previe ... pert-line/ It seems we have another surprise coming next week acording to the preview here, includes two liveries it seems. Includes some of the features from the BR103 where appropriate, like manual or auto cold start. DR style cab and functions. Comes complete with first and second Y type coaches and a reko restaurant car all in the Stadte Express Yellow/Cream livery.

This is something new, if you are not happy drop them a line, the 120 was planned for a long time ago, unfortunately getting it to work in the sim has proved to be an issue. No doubt this has held up other projects along the way. In the meantime I personally am happy about this, it was much requested on the German forums and will be a somewhat different drive I should think, given that it represents the original unmodified Lok.

It wasn't that 'I'm not happy' I was hoping for a new loco instead of an upgrade to an existing loco.
I would be more inclined to purchase something I don't have rather than another version of a loco because it has more whistles and bells

The DB 110 appeared in one of their pictures and there are other locos which would be nice to have for german routes.

And the IC Driving Trailer Second - Bpmbdzf

I will keep waiting.

Maik has stated over on Railsim.de that the 120 and DT are not too far away, they are fine tuning it. Whether that means weeks or months is another thing. He has also stated that the BR 243 has played an important part in the development of the BR 120. The 120 has taken a very long time to develop, just like the 90 did. Bearing in mind that VR is a small team, I think Ulf, Maik and some testers it's not really a surprise that other projects are well behind. But there is a demand for this from those like me who would prefer a fully featured model with realistic performance. If you are happy with the simple version then you won't want this, personally I like the simple ones when I am very tired and want to relax, the rest of the time I prefer the ones that require some thought. There is room for both.

I really wish I could understand german, so I would be up to date reading Railsim.de, as it seems that there are more comments there than on vR's facebook page :(

Except for the number 2 on the front instead of a 1 would I notice any difference to my Expert Line 143?

(except the coaches)

You certainly would in the cab and the way it drives, some detail differences as well. A lot of fun to drive over the Freiburg route

Forgot to mention this lok also comes with signals to implement pan down and main switch off at neutral sections. If you are not sure if it is different enough then I would recomend a read of the manual which can be downloaded on the VR site.
