Disabling USA DLC - safe?

Hi All,

I NEVER use the American stuff, and occasionally use German. Pretty much only UK and that's enough for me. But in the past I had purchased some American stuff on sale thinking I would use it "one day". However life is too short and there's too many nice UK trains I still want to use before that day would ever come..

So with the new disable DLC feature I'm considering disabling all my USA Locos and USA routes, even the ones included with TS. I'll still keep ticked the USA Asset pack in case something uses it.

My question is - is this safe for downloaded freeware and non-steam addons?
I have alot of freeware routes and vaguely recall one of them used assets from an American addon, but I can't remember which one.. if anyone knows which route this is would be appreciated.

Did anyone else successfully disable all their USA DLC with no ill effects?

many thanks

I don't run the US routes either but I have the Steam ones still from some years ago. I deleted the routes in RW-Tools which doesn't delete all the assets which are needed for some of my freeware routes.
I have previous versions of Railworks backed up anyway so I can copy back any US assets which I might need.

I was going to delete with the DLC checkbox though, rather than RW tools (that would be overwritten by verify/patches).

Do you remember which freeware routes require US assets?

If it's only one route maybe I can just remove it and do without to save all that space.

Cheers

Some DLC routes use Kuju/RailsimulatorUS assets such as WCML North, WCML over Shap and Western Line of Scotland

In theory the system will recognise this and retain the necessary files (i.e the ones you would get if you downloaded those routes without owning any US content).

Unless it interacts with the TS Utilities system for installing add-ons it wil not recognise third-party installs that use the assets but as it is just as easy to reinstate as to remove the Downloaded Content it isn't a problem to put right if issues arise.

Ok I've done it.

I think it should be ok as I keep US assets ticked.

Only problem I had was fictional routes also contained hedborough north so it creates orphan scenarios if I disable that. I guess it doesn't hurt to keep one US route.

Besides the space, it's much nicer to use the filter now only seeing the routes I want.

I unticked the Donner Pass route - I only ran the thing once.
Not noticed any problems yet and I still have a number of US & Eurpean routes.

I wondered if I copied out the locos and stock from the route and compied them back in after the Untick-ing if that would keep them?
