Dave,

The basic route install puts about 83Mb into the Assets\G-TraX folder, 5 Mb into the Assets\GreatNortherner folder, 635 Mb into the Assets\RWA folder and 6 Mb into the Assets\WACampbell folder.

It also puts about 85Mb into its Routes\fc65cc68-81f5-4b41-9fa0-488fe4a73027 folder and 8Mb into the Manuals folder.

Having now installed the Route, acquired and installed the extra rolling stock, checking and finding nothing amiss as reported by RWTools ,I have run and completed the first scenario. I notice when using the Alco that although there is engine sounds I do not get any sounds when either using the horn or the bell. Is that the same with any others who have installed? or just me.

I get horn and bell sounds, both inside and outside the cab. I wonder if they're aliased to something else that you don't have installed.

Hmmm, I have them too, and thought they were unique to the engine, as the horn has a very deep sound. If you'll tell me where to look I'll check to see if they are aliased, but the package should be self-contained.

The fix John points to is for a different Rolling Stock donationware package.

Don't install that update unless you have the DIFFERENT Rollingstock donationware package that is much older, featuring green color-schemed stock. The NEW route and stock isn't related to that older package. The update referenced in that link is for the EMD NW2 switcher, not the Alco RS-1 in the new route.

Yes, I noticed that once I unzipped the file for a manual install ( I hate using the TS2014 Utilities program) so I did not install. Which still leaves me with the supplied Alco RS-1 without any Horn of Bell sounds,I do have smoke. I am thinking to maybe swap it out for the vR Alco RS-11 which I have, but of course I don't have the right paint job for it. Is there anywhere that someone may know of where you can get repaints for the vR Alco RS-11 ?

Well, the horn and bell work for pretty much everyone else that has the route it seems (given there have been no threads about it over on RWA). I'm happy to ask there about it, or if someone can tell me what files to look at, I can check to see if the horn and bell are aliased.

It's a great little loco, so don't give up on it.

This really is a great little route, put together by modellers with a good pedigree and knowledge. At $15 it is a snip and the included stock is superb. The Alco is particularly good with a nicely modelled cab. I like the right arrow view which allows you to look directly at the control panel.

The route is fictional, of course, but is like a finely modelled model railroad. Captures the feel of the 1950's very well and for those wanting to model their own '50s route brings to the table a good range of assets.

The Riverside, Waterton & Atlantic is a bridge line between two "Class1" railroads (un-named, but as the route does, more or less have a specific location, suitable candidates could be used). The Class 1 is interestingly modelled as a large rectangle, double tracked, running outside the sceniced area of the route, except for the short sections where they form interchanges at Waterton and Riverside.

A good range of proper scenarios are included, plus free roams and QDs. There are additional stock items available in the form of free reskins and an excellent Berkshire by Rick Grout (GTrax). More scenarios are also available.

A good way to dip your toe into classic US railroading if you have a mind to.

Very strange, just tried the Pere Marquette Berkshire for this route and the horn and bells etc are working fine, as do others, so its not my keys or anything like that, Just a thought, the Alco RS-1 I'm using is the one supplied with the route. What if I donate the extra $10.00 for the stand alone model (as a last resort though) perhaps there's a file missing from the one supplied in the package ? I am a novice when it comes to trying what is aliased to what when it comes to thing like that.

I am not sure what the problem is with Antony's installation, but just so you don't chase up the wrong road, I'll mention that this route and its rolling stock has no external aliases. All the files it uses are included in the main package. The stand alone model is not required. It is probably the first such distribution that I know of that has absolutely no external dependencies.

The RS1 bell and horn sounds are found in the folder: Assets\RWA\Lakeside\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\RS-1

There haven't been any other reports of audio problems. Perhaps a reinstall might help.

Yeah, no need to buy the loco again, unless you just feel like donating.

I'd try a reinstall, and then if you still haven't got the sounds a quick post at RWA's site will get quick and helpful attention.

Yes.I've done just that, reinstalled the RS-1 folder to no avail and am now in email conversation with Bob over the matter so hopefully something will be sorted.

Had no issue with bells and horns with the Alco....

I have downloaded the SD9 locos and note that the manual mentions "..QuickDrive users please note: You will only be able to use these engines in QuickDrive mode on routes that have the Kuju\RailSimulatorUS assets enabled by default
(Cajon Pass, for example). If you run the engines in QuickDrive on other routes that don't use these assets (like for example the RWA Route), they will be missing their sounds and exhaust particles..." - fair enough, tried a QD in Lakeside and no sounds whilst a QD in one of Rich Garbers routes and I have sounds....

So...

Is there a way of making sounds for the SD9 in a QD in the Lakeside route? Not being too 'competent' (for want of a better word) is there a way of being able to have sounds? I thought start a QD, go into editor and tick the Kuju US boxes but didn't work when I tried that....
