I suppose you could just paint a "2" on the loco and number the locos as 7XXX.

I did consider that Dave, but then it would have numbers on all 'four corners' as it were, which is not good. Only Derby overhauled locos had the numbers on the cabs too, the Glasgow one's had these amidships. I plan to do some but these will have decal applied numbers.

Sorted. And these aren't the usual Kuju 37 ploughs either, these have been kindly provided by DP Simulation:

You can now get the locos' from DP Simulation by the way - details via the link below:

The cab has certainly had some work done on it, and looks all the better for it:

I've bought it - was hoping that the annoying 'g-dink' sound when on the move would have been altered/removed but sadly no. Bring on the AP sound set!

That's what's stopped me from buying it. An absolutely awful sound and I can't believe the sound department at RSC could listen to that and say "yep that's good enough for release".
I won't be buying any of these releases as the sound issues are not being addressed. All quiet over at AP towers also with no word as to any soundpacks in the making.

Odd that, I myself haven't seen the 'g-dink' noise mentioned anywhere else other than on here, so am I right in assuming that you too assumed the loco came with this feature incorporated?

The only way I found out that the 'g-dink' feature was included was by buying the DLC. And thereafter after deciding to replace the 'g-dink' feature with 'g-dunk', it took me all of a minute to do so.

My nose remains in situ to the obvious approval of the rest of my face.

weren't the 26's Mac Rats not the 27

I think it surprises many people, but not all the 27's (or 26's for that matter) started life in Scotland. The first 23 were new to Eastfield & that's effectively what the released model covers, as they had sliding cab windows to allow for the fitment of tablet catchers (not modeled). The next 9 went to Thornaby & were noticeable by the lack of a water tank, as they were intended for freight workings. The rest of the class went to Cricklewood, with some migrating to Leicester, to be joined by the Teeside locos. The locos initially sent to England didn't have the tablet catcher equipment, so they were fitted with dropleaf cab windows.

Class 26's also started life south of the border. The 20 Pilot Scheme locos went new to Hornsey for GN Suburban work for the first year or two before heading to Scotland to join the production batch.

It was 15 examples of Class 24 that went to the Southern region as a stop-gap until the 33's were delivered and the Kent Coast electrification was completed.

Very true Malcolm,

Whilst researching for the above reskins, I was suprised to find photos of 27's on the MML around Leicester as late as 1969,

Only had one run on the 27 so far, has anyone noticed the AI 27 sounds much louder than the player 27. The sounds are once again a big let down.

I can remember a green 27 with small yellow panels shunting on the Midland mainline in the mid sixties, later in life they were gradually fitted with sliding cab windows, you can find pics of the same loco with both in BR TOPS Blue. Not all were fitted before withdrawal though. These engines had what I would describe as a very bouncy suspension, but were quite comfortable, as opposed to the 24/25's which were known as Rock n' Rollers with good reason. We used to have a working from Oxwellmains with two of these at the front of 28 vacuum fitted cement tanks 1088t in all IIRC. Remember going up past Lunan Bay with one loco failing half way, one winters night. We managed to get moving again, just, but we made it over the top eventually.
