Ok but you say your US Asset pack is not in an .ap? That should have happened ages (TS13 to 14?) ago. I'm puzzled why it has not happened...

Alex,

OK, I have solved my problem !

First of all the missing buildings were NOT in Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/Scenery/Buildings, but rather in Sarc2/RailsimulatorUS/Scenery/Buildings
, where identical buildings to the Kuju ones had their .bin files, but NOT their GEOPCDX files or Texture files.
To save space , your Sarc2 designer may have referred for these GEOPCDX and Texture files to the Kuju folder, but presumably to the RailsimulatorUS .ap file rather than the files themselves.

Once I had realised this ( since I no longer have the .ap file for some reason), I copied across the appropriate GEOPCDX and Texture files from the Kuju into the Sarc2 Buildings folder and "hey presto" problem solved , all ( well nearly all) Sarc2 buildings are now displaying and no more floating notices.
There are still at least one building missing, but again I suspect it is a a Sarc file. I will have to try to track it down.

I detail this as others may have this problem. Many people concerned about the size of their Kuju folder may have removed the .ap file once having extracted the files in order to substantially reduce the Kuju folder.

Why did you need to extract all the files from this .ap file? TS2014 runs perfectly well without doing this.

If you want to get at the contents of the .ap file in order to copy individual files into re-skin folders I suggest you investigate the 2-Panel mode of 7Zip - this enables you to open the .ap archive in one panel and your destination folder in the other, and then drag files from the archive to the destination.

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

alanch,

I'm not quite sure whether this would work for RWTools, but perhaps it would ?
In order to check routes and scenarios and substitute stock , scenery items etc, you normally have to extract the .ap file to the same location.

The main problem here is that the route assets seemed to call on the GEOPCDX and texture files from an .ap folder and would not see those files in extracted form, even though the sim sees them in either form. As you know RWTools sees files only in the extracted form.
Another funny thing is that another folder "Sarc" ( not Sarc1 or Sarc2) seems to have some of the same assets already in there e.g. Sarc/RailsimulatorUS/Scenery/Buildings/...US_Factory_Grey with the GEO and tex. files already present !

Anyway problem solved ( or at least worked around ) for now.

A nice concept for a route, though I have noticed a few problems. I'm not sure if all of them, have been mentioned earlier...

The signal PK290 ( Which is the signal allowing trains from Port of Keane to enter the line between Killymeara and Ballacraig ) isn't working properly. I have made a scenario with an intermodal train ( player ) leaving Port of Keane container terminal going north via Marsdonshire. It's supposed to wait for a passing passenger train at the junction between Killymeara and Ballacraig. As soon as the passenger train has cleared the junction and the switch changes to allow exit from the Port of Keane branch, the 3 aspect signal goes from red to green. The passenger train is still in the block! Can anyone confirm this?

There are no electrified sidings on the electrified line, wich seems a little weird to me. It rules out running any kind of electric freight, and generally giving fewer options for activity creation.

Speedlimits could use some love.. but I'm sure it has been mentioned earlier.

Very tight curves in depots and various other locations. Has also been mentioned earlier, I believe

cheers
Peter

As you surmise, RW_Tools will not see the assets in a .ap file when you are checking a route - I get around this by only extracting the .ap files when I check new routes, and then deleting the extracted files after checking. This is more complicated for the Kuju\RailSimulatorUS folder, as you may have re-skins in there that you don't want to remove - I usually leave that .ap file alone, and ignore anything that RW_Tools reports as missing from there and the RSDL\Foliage01 folders.

Thanks for the update Alex...
I've enjoyed a few nice runs on the route but not tried amending any existing scenarios or creating new ones just yet. Yes, the route has some quirks and tight curves in places - but loving the steep gradients and some nice long, dark tunnels. Lots of thrash potential for steam and diesel lovers.
That .geopdx file is not a code used by the Rebel Alliance...

Thanks for your kind words! Many things have and are changing in the network that is Marsdonshire so anybody modding it should be aware of that ;-)

Looking forward to the update. Scenary wise it's quite good and interesting to drive.
