Despite the quite large update I have received I dont appear to have the Teignmouth sign, does anybody actually have this sign showing
This happened to me... but it was because i unpack the .AP files... so i had to go in and unpack the new version to overwrite the old version

If you don't unpack the .ap files, then all i can think is try clearing you cache in the games tools menu
Why couldn't the steam loco sit down? - Because he had a tender behind.

Maybe this large update will fix the bugs they've said they're going to fix for the past half of the year.

If it corrupts 3rd party content however, I will not be impressed; surely DTG can manage a bug fixing update without screwing everyone with copious amounts of 3rd party content over?

Isn't it a bit early to be complaining about 3rd party assets being corrupted? If a new feature or improvement to the core of the game means that some 3rd party assets need a little tweak to make them fully compatible would you complain if the end result gave us a better gaming/playing experience? Any update to any asset has potential to *break* something; luckily for those providers who aren't RSC the UKTS membership as a whole does seem very tolerant of wee glitches (AP sounds not working on updated JT locos for example) so it'd be nice to see that extended.
Backing up your 3rd party stuff is standard advice, if only to cover the backsides of the company putting out an update --- many things can go wrong when changing files over an internet connection that are outside of the control of the provider, it only needs a loss of connectivity to give rise to files being *lost*, particularly if the process involves a lot of temporary movement.

They would be foolish to not tell us to back up as they do not have the slightest idea what third-party items each user has on their machine. Particularly as many modify/replace default features in the desire for levels of realism that the core game is not designed to achieve. But anybody sensible keeps regular backups of all things on their computer anyway.

Taking into account the considerable amount of work needed to make changes to any software and the time needed for thorough testing I would be surprised if "all the bugs" are fixed in one shot. Despite your impatience for the changes I do get the feeling you would be one of the first to shout if something went wrong with an upgrade.

Smile and be grateful . . .

The easiest way if you don't have an up to date system backup (which would contain all your assets), would be to make a copy of your railworks folder to a separate location on your PC if you have the disk space. If not, you could make a copy of your railworks folder onto an external drive.
Another old fuddy duddy here  :

If we back up the Railworks folder, isn't it possible (likely) that the new Steam update will change data in that folder. Therefore we would have to know which specific bits of data we would then need to copy back from our backup after the update???

Firstly, let's not forget that in all likelihood the update should go smoothly. However, if you back up the railworks folder to a separate location, this means that should something go wrong during the update, you can then replace the updated version of the railworks folder with the one that worked prior to the update, besides which, it is prudent to keep an up to date full system (all files) backup, or at least an up to date back up version of your railworks folder at all times.

Apologies; I guess I'm just in a bad mood lately with exams and all. I also originally posted my message at 11pm at night after an exam earlier that day, so I probably just needed some sleep.

Isn't sleep what students do during lectures?

Best of luck with the exams by the way!!
