Hello all
I was just wondering if there was a way to fit the snowploughs that come with the RSC class 31/37 to the RSC class 33,just wondering because when I started going out and about I remember one like 004/13/15/33 all having ploughs fitted all year round, also is there a way to remove the headlight on the 33/1 model?
Many thanks for your attention

Yes it would be as they are separate objects for the 31/37. You need to duplicate the plough.bin file from either the 31 or 37 and then place it with your desired 33 .bin file. Now you need to use RW Tools to find the section of the 31/37 loco bin file which defines the plough as a child object and where it is positioned (there should be two entries, one for each end). Make a new engine.bin file for a Class 33 and include the plough sections you just found in the child object section, but you will need to tweak the position parameters within the 4x4 position matrix in order to get the ploughs in exactly the right place.

As a rough guide to changing the position (defined in metres from the loco origin point/centre) the following may help.

Class 31 length is 17.29m
Class 33 length is 15.47m
Class 37 length is 18.74m

Halving the difference in length should give you a rough amount to move the ploughs by, but this doesn't account for front end shape differences.

Yes Mark it is.

The ploughs on the 37 are child objects so can go on anything in practice, I did put them on the JT 20 ages ago but now need to do so with the new version. Ploughs for the 33 have been on the 'to do' list for yonks, but of course the 37's ploughs are 3-piece whereas the 33's where only 2. I have identified a way around this though :) .

Cheers,

I added 37 ploughs to my LL 33 but (and I'm certainly open to correction) the 37 ploughs are a 1 piece child, meaning that instead of 1 plough at the front and 1 plough at the rear, the mesh (child object) is actually both ploughs set the correct distance for the 37. This meant I had to also scale the ploughs to get them to fit, which means they are a little squashed. Not noticeable unless you look hard, but something to consider.

If there's a singular plough out there, I'd like to know!

Well many thanks for the replies guys i didn't realise it was as much of a faff as that but Mr Richard is completely correct as it was usually the outer two ploughs that were fitted the middle one wasn't for some reason is there a way to paint the middle one black?
