JT Class 20 Advanced + AP Sounds Patch

Post by JustRight »

Hi All,

Those of you that have the excellent Just Trains Class 20 Advanced and have added the equally excellent AP Class 20 Sound Pack (PRO), may have noticed that a couple of the features of the new loco are disabled when the AP Class 20 Sound Pack (PRO) is applied.

Particularly the External AWS Sounds, and the ability to switch these on and off.

With Richard Armstrong's permission I have uploaded a patch to the JT Class 20 Advanced with the AP Class 20 Sound Pack (PRO) applied which will reinstate this function, along with some other sounds as well.

Hi All.

Sadly I discovered a small buglet in my modified proxyxml file in the handling of the External AWS Warning sound

So the file has been fixed and re-uploaded. So now has to go through approval again.

Sorry about that.

Richard indicated to me that he does not intend to update his Sound Pack for these functions at this time. He may however get to do so at some time in the future.
For the time being though, this is it.

Cheers.

Hi All,

As this was my very first upload to UKTS I wondered if someone could let me know if the patch worked for you?

When testing this sort of thing the changes 'always' work on the source system. But it's the unforseen that can trip things up when running on another users system.

So, did it work for you?

Cheers,
Trevor

Wow this is exactly what I wanted but didn't know how. Thank you!

Although this was your first upload, if there is any chance you will do this for other models as well I'd love to hear about it as I like going outside cab to look at the scenery, and I hate emergency brakes :)

Hi there mate,

Unfortunately I can't claim responsibility for implementing the external sounds. Just Trains had already done that work, via child objects/scripts or whatever. What I have done is simply re-enabled those functions in the AP Class 20 Sound Pack PRO. I suspect that the pre-release version that Richard Armstrong had to work with did not have the External AWS or Wheel Flat sounds, and so his sound pack effectively removed those additional functions.

So no brilliance on my part I'm afraid, just some hack work to merge the JT sounds with the AP Sound Pack.

Cheers,
Trevor

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for the info. I have a few other JT trains with AP packs and I found the Class 60 and the Class 220/221 Voyager are both working fine, unfortunately in the AP pack for the Class 153 he has broken the external AWS/DSD sounds that are described in the manual. They are even controlled by a switch in the cab and unfortunately the AP pack breaks this functionality totally.

Can you give me any idea how I could do a similar fix to the 153?

It looks like all the external sounds are together in one bin file so I'm not sure which files to replace to get the original AWS back..

Or do you need to edit the bin file?

Cheers

Working nicely, and I like the wider cab view too.

Thanks for your efforts!
