Engine driver audio engineer interview, Duchess for TS2014?

Post by SVRSam »

Reading this interview with DTGs audio engineer Adam Rose. http://www.engine-driver.com/article/sh ... -simulator suggests that a Stanier Duchess might be on the way from DTG ! There was a picture of 46233 Duchess of Sutherland and recording 46233 at the midland railway centre was mentioned too.

This line of text also suggests 46233s sounds are being used for a sound set for TS ?
"Then there are pitfalls to avoid, such as one-off sounds applicable only to a single loco. The Duchess of Sutherland for example has airbrakes fitted, so there is an air pump sound on that loco. I work with the loco crew and ask them to point out any specific sounds I should include, as they know the loco best."

It makes sense given that DTG have bought and then upgraded models (eg Western and class 14) so perhaps they are upgrading the Duchess too ?

If this is correct I can't wait to take a Duchess up Shap and Ais gill!

The DTG admin on the steam forums has confirmed that the duchess is in the process of being upgraded via a few comments on the steam forum.

Apparently the sounds and both exterior and cab models are having work done.
