Perhaps you should be speaking to DaveDewhurst (Waggonz), he appears to have a great interest in the Oculus VR - Oculus Rift.
Re: Oculus vr for trainsim ? ? ?
I believe DTG will be implementing it in future.

I am not sure about current support level.

It works, but you need either TriDef3d or VorpX to enable it,
Unfortunately you need to run the sim in non TSX mode or turn shadows off as the TSX wrapper causes some odd artifacts with shadows.
Some tweaking of the FOV is also needed to make the viewable area in the Rift look correct.
Head Tracking doesn't work out of the box, but you may be able to spoof it using a combination of FreeTrack and the TS2014 track IR patch available from a thread in this forum
TriDef and VorpX are both payware but one of them has a free trial (I cant remember which)
Dave
So in short, yes it works, with a lot of messing, possibly too much for the actual benefit,
If it was supported natively then it would be a lot better, Possibly when they move over to UDK in TS2016 (which has better support for it)

Its a virtual reality headset.david1 wrote:sorry to sound daft, but what is it and what does it do?
Currently still in development, you can purchase it as a developer kit (although the resolution is not great).
A fair few games in development have all planned support for the hardware, but some older games can be modded into utilising it, with varying compatibility.

Re: Oculus vr for trainsim ? ? ?
Thanks for the explanation Dave, I nearly purchased one, didn't realise about the TSX settings or the low resolution.
Cheers

Re: Oculus vr for trainsim ? ? ?
Doesn't make sense they would support the Rift given they've been snubbing TrackIR for years.

The Current model (Developer Kit 1) which is the one everybody currently has runs at 1280x800.johnrossetti wrote:Thanks for the explanation Dave, I nearly purchased one, didn't realise about the TSX settings or the low resolution.

The one linked to in the first post is Developer Kit 2 which will ship in July (I think) but runs at 1080p
Currently considering it, but only if I can sell this one I've currently got

One expensive toy, not for me that's for sure.
