Performance again

New pc arrived a couple of days ago hooray :)
I can now max everything out which i couldnt do before and i can have anti aliasing and it looks so much better :)
Still getting the 15 fps micro stutters though :( but i knew i would. Still not decided on the optimum ant aliasing settings or if i prefer DOF on or off. Will have another play around tonight to find the sweet spot between melting my gpu and looks.
Once i do i am going back to locking the fps at 20. 20 fps is plenty for trainsim and will make the micro stutters less noticeable.

Unfortunately you're going to get micro-stutters no matter how powerful your PC is, but I'm definitely going to have to disagree with you on the 20fps front. For me, you should lock your frames to whatever your monitor's refresh rate is (60fps is the most common).

You don't 'lock' the framerate, but rather you're setting an upper limit over which the game will not attempt to run at. Setting this to 60 is of no use if your combination of hardware and quality settings means your PC displays at a lower rate.

The OP said he can finally put everything on max, so I inferred that he had a pretty good PC :)

Hi all,

I am having the same problem with tile load stutter's, I am not as experienced as you guy's but I also found that most of my routes ran smoother if I locked the frame rate at 20 fps. I think it may be the sudden drop from high fps to the high teens fps that made things look worse.
It certainly seemed to work ok for me, but I respect your experience with T S 2014.
Any changes to the in game graphics didn't seem to make much difference.

Even a very good PC would struggle to produce a constant 60FPS with everything cranked up and DOF on. Using a frame rate tied to the monitors refresh rate (might as well use V-synch) was useful when using CRT monitors but isn't such a boon with TFTs.

what exactly does anti aliasing do whats the best setting to have it on?

Short answer--- it smooths out the steps between the dots that make up straight vertical and horizontal lines, and particularly sloping lines, reducing the jagged look. Best settings differ from system to system, you need to experiment.
