Re: BR Class 14

Model-wise, it's pretty well done; the buffer-beams are my favourite part of the model. I'm less satisfied with the "just out of the factory" cleanliness of the textures, since at night the top of the cab can seem to "glow" around well-lit areas. The wasp stripes and buffer-beams are subtly weathered though, which is pretty strange considering the cleanliness of the rest of the model.

In my humble opinion, the sounds are passable but not great. It's a bit like the default Electrostar soundset, in that they've obviously been recorded from actual stock but parts of it sound...well, "off". In my experience the Class 14 in real life sounds throatier with more rattle and roar - sorry, I'm not too great at describing sounds.
My disclaimer here is that my encounters with Class 14s have purely been on preserved railways.

I'm slightly disappointed in DTG that two of the four provided scenarios are - once again - training scenarios, but there's a few player-made activities in the pipeline at least. :D

At the end of the day, 8 quid for it isn't too bad at all. Although I have to say, where is the blue one, DTG?

I prescribe a visit to http://www.brdw.co.uk and not just for the 14 either!

Just bought it because I do like the 14's, and I can see where Vera is coming from. From my own experience with the 14 at the RSR, I did notice it being more rattly at least, with a bit more 'bassiness' to it. Still, on the whole I'm quite pleased with it, as I had been wanting a 14 in TS for some time.

I see DTG has changed the specs of this Class 14 by stating it has only the green livery and not the BR Blue as was advertised when I purchased this DLC
Not too happy about that. :(

Is this addon found in the RSC folder now or still in a different one?

Very interesting, especially if an AP Pro sound kit came out!

I first saw a Class 14 some time ago at the Barry railway, D9555 I think, on loan for the Barry Transport Gala.

I love the sound of the Paxman engine in the 14's, as described a VeraTheMage, a nice deep throaty roar sound. I also love the slow wind up of the turbo as power increases making a nice whistle at full power. Music to my ears :D

We should have ours running at the RSR Diesel Gala this weekend! Be good to hear it running properly again.

Indeed :-) For a relatively low-powered loco they produce fantastic thrash!

The sounds in the video for me sounded close, but somehow didn't quite capture the full depth - maybe limitations of the recording equipment used at the time, since it's insisted that they were recorded from a real loco?

Probably worth saying too that nearly anyone can point a microphone at a locomotive. The skill is how you do so, the equipment used and most importantly, the editing/implementation in the sim.

Seconded. AP sound are as close as you can get to the real thing without being there. I don't buy locos from any source now until they've been given the AP treatment.

For an authentic driving experience then sounds are far more important to me than an exquisite exterior model.
