Reskinning Class 91
Hi all,
Having a bit of trouble with this. I've looked at the reskinning thread, but as far as I can see the folder is set up differently to other rolling stock.
The only items in the Class91Addon folder are blueprints.pak & Class91AddonAssets
How do I extract the files so I can find the textures etc?
Thanks

The .AP files can be unzipped using 7-Zip, they are effectively zip files just with an ap exstenstion. If you then edit them as normal, re-zip them using 7-zip and rename them within the 7-zip control panel to have the .ap extension - it should pick up as normal...... Hope this helps....
PS. Remember to clear your cache once you've reloaded TS to ensure the new bits pickup!!!

Re: Reskinning Class 91
You don't put edited files back in to the .ap archive, instead treat a reskin of .ap contained stock exactly as you would the older stuff, ie: it lives in it's own folder structure outside of the .ap
Only the files needed for the reskin need to be outside, any shared files (textures, sounds, animations) can stay in the archive.
RW Tools has a better routine for extracting files than 7-zip, as it also sets the read/write attribute correctly.

Or if you have RW Tools, it has a facility that will extract the contents of the .ap file.JasVick wrote:The .AP files can be unzipped using 7-Zip,

And I'm going to add - keep a backup of any files you change, because any future Steam update and/or file verification *may* delete those newly created files. There is still some debate about that, some experience it, others don't - so play safe and keep backups

Re: Reskinning Class 91
Just to add to Chris's point, after a verify but before launching the game again use Windows Explorer to navigate to your ..\steamapps\common\railworks folder and delete the "verify_cache_key" file. This (in theory) prevents the deletion of any files outside of a .ap that are also duplicated inside one from being deleted. Not a reason not to have a back-up of course, but it might save you having to use it

Re: Reskinning Class 91
Sorry to dig this back up after so long. I've decided to have another go at this after initially giving up!
I have managed to extract DDS files for other stock, but for some reason I can't do it for the Class 91 (or 67 for that matter). When I try and view the texture file in RWbintool or RW tools I just see a sky blue square. Has anyone else encountered this?

Good evening,
Is there an easier way to apply the available reskin for this train? I wouldn't know where to start with RW tools.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

If you're just installing a reskin rather than creating one, all you need out of the .ap package is the .GeoPcDx file. Rw Tools extracts these, as you already know but so does any half decent archive management tool---7Zip, WinRAR for example.CraigGilmour wrote:Is there an easier way to apply the available reskin for this train? Exactly which reskin are you trying to install?

Hi, thanks for replying.
I would like to install the EC livery from DPS and obviously without the Intercity logo.

Re: Reskinning Class 91
I've managed to follow all instructions and i am not left with 'missing texture' where the intercity logo was.
