Atomic Systems

The HSTs used on ECMLS is in the old National Express livery, and since they are no longer the franchise holders RSC can use the livery without any issues (as long as they don't use the logo, of course). However, the IC225 sets have never been repainted in National Express colours - they had to terminate the franchise contract before they could get around to it. So when East Coast took over the franchise the IC225 sets went straight from GNER to East Coast liveries.

I would have preferred the GNER livery but I'm sure someone will get around to creating it.

I have just bought the 91 but haven't tried it yet,I don't expect the sounds to be up to AP standards but I hope that the distinctive roar and horn sound is there.I remember being shocked at how noisy the 91s are when I first saw one in April 1988,I expected them to be reasonably quite like a 90 or an 86 !.

That's a fairly subjective topic

For me, it's an excellent rendition of that section of the line as it currently exists with a great many custom scenery objects that make it highly believable.

For me, the extremely limited scope of operations, i.e. express passenger, semi-fast passenger and suburban services and almost total absence of freight detracts from making it a perfect route, but it is what it is.

Furthermore, there are a couple of elements that are either incomplete or totally missing, namely the Hertford loop which is present but without scenery, and the Moorgate branch which is absent. I can live without the latter, but I feel the former is a bit strange and the cynic in me thinks that this will become another paid add-on like the Sheerness branch was for the Kent High Speed route.

So, in summary, if you want to thrash express services or enjoy long distance stoppers, it's very good indeed, easily one of the most complete routes to date.

I take it you are referring to period-liveried 313? There's always Dave Brindley's freeware one.

I've said it before and this probably won't be the last time either, but having now read the entire thread, why is it still accepted that RSC/DG can (yet again) release a model with sub-par sounds and then we wait for Richard Armstrong to fix them? Not wanting to deprive Richard of his livelihood, but honestly, it's getting really wearisome, not to mention costly.

It is acceptable because people are buying it. Nowhere does it state that the sounds provided will be the last word in quality. Obviously, if this makes the model unacceptable you will have to buy your Class 91 from........well, nowhere, as another one to this high standard doesn't exist.

Not everyone says they are sub-par some people are happy with them!

Surely it's down to personal choice, I have most DLC (the majority from sales) some people on here wouldn't purchase 80% of what I have because of perceived short comings. I am maybe easier to please or am not quite so worried, others are, although I am actually a stickler for reaslism!

No-one is right or wrong, if you want to rant then that's fine and your right but what people choose to spend their (hard) earned money on is up to them!

It's been intimated that people in the more, shall we say glass half full or even three quarters full camp, are stupid or even been called muppets for purchasing RS/DTG DLC, which I think is out of order personally!

My money, my choice!

Maybe so, however, one can reasonably expect that they would be good, or at a pinch, passable, but that's not what I'm reading here. What I'm seeing are multiple instances of "they're ok, but..." followed by hopes that AP (or anyone else) correct what is perceived to be a flaw. Puts me off buying, clearly your criteria are different.

Well, frankly, at least at full price, it does make it unacceptable for me. Having managed without one for now, I can go on waiting until either one becomes available, or, as is most likely, it goes on discounted sale. There are nearly a dozen bits of official DLC on my Steam wishlist like this.

None of this changes my opinion that, from what I have read -- and this is partly why I still follow UKTS -- it's less than perfect and RSC/DG could have made a better job of it.

DSD/Vigilance

I emailed DTG and got a quick reply.

The DSD/Vigilance Device, that was included in the particular locomotive was amended for later models, the way
that the it operated in the Inter City Class 91 is chronologically and historically accurate, there is a possibility that a
future update may include the ability to switch it off.

I will wait until then to purchase the loco.

Rant? I don't see a rant, I see an opinion expressed. Ranting usually means excessive use of exclamation marks...
