Re: Class 91 on sale
The Mark 4 coaches are not like the Mark 3 coaches as most of them don't have Buffers.Squatch wrote:Mostly, yes - the problem I saw was that while it did couple up to the Mk4's, there was no visible coupling. Also the end gangway door is wide open. But I drove it from the DVT and it pushed and pulled, so yeah, it seems mostly there
At one end you have the DVT then, FO,FO(D),FO,RSB,TSO(D),TSO,TSO,TSOTSO(E).
The last TSO(E) has a blank end without a corridor connection and the loco couples at this end of the coach.

Re: Class 91 on sale
I'm getting round driving the loco with the Vigilance by keeping the F3 HUD on.
If I reset it at x
00 and remember to hit the [Q] on the full min it works.
Also the Vigilance still sounds with the loco in Neutral - which it should not.
Got the thing up to 152 mph on L2F

Yeah, I was being a dope, had the rake reversed, and coach M reversed in that too. All is as it should be when one does it properly!!749006 wrote:The Mark 4 coaches are not like the Mark 3 coaches as most of them don't have Buffers.Squatch wrote:Mostly, yes - the problem I saw was that while it did couple up to the Mk4's, there was no visible coupling. Re: Class 91 on sale

Now, anyone know how to take off the horrible sound of the wipers? to say they are driving me crazy is an understatement
Re: Class 91 on sale
The East Coast reskin is fabulous!! Lovely work Daniel!
Has anybody had a go at moving the driver figure to the blunt end of the 91 at all? Is anyone willing to have a go?
. I have had a go, but.....well lets just say that it didn't end as well as i'd hoped!
Cheers
Terrone.

Re: Class 91 on sale
I have to say it's all down to that EC reskin that I've brought the 91 today.

Re: Class 91 on sale
Late entry on the review stakes and having read the previous pages there isn't a lot more to add. But, share my opinion, I will...
Iconic loco really and a chance for the DTG brand to excell in a captive market craving a Class 91 and Mark 4 set up. You can't really lose when so many people want it/need it... especially to populate the modern ECML South, which really is painfully bland with those 'plain' HSTs and the Class 365/321.
Purchased and downloaded, I set about the Class 91 with intrigue and expectation. The loco and DVT are stunning pictorally on the eye, very nicely modelled. Not really explored the Mark 4 coaches all that much, but they look like Mark 4s to me, though I found the restrictive passenger view (slightly more restrictive than others in my opinion and left me feeling as though my passenger was wearing a tight neck brace) disappointing and 'uber modern' considering the livery it was released in... Hey ho...
Cab interior views are back to only what you can see in front of you... I can't look round over my shoulder and that was disappointing in comparison with other recent releases. I was happy with what I could actually see in the cab - but not up to AP/Waggonz Class 90 standard. Not sure I was expecting that - not for £11.99 anyway. Great that we get the blunt end Class 91 cab. Full marks for that...
Scenario provision is very poor in my opinion when compared with what we got elsewhere from DTG (e.g. Riviera Class 143). And even one of those scenarios is virtually unplayable 'out of the box' - see later... Biggest disappointment is that there is no scenario for WCML North, AND, that the scenarios provided do not even showcase the full Peterborough to Kings Cross run.
So, the scenario in the rain out of Kings Cross heading for Stevenage. I had to give up before Hornsey. I couldn't see any of the signal aspects through the windscreen. So bad it was, even the community provided a patch within hours. That surely must have been tested before release? For me, that is not acceptable and, despite the patch being available, a ticket has been submitted. If that is 'really' how the originals suffered, BR drivers would have gone on strike for less. A basic matter of health and safety. For me, it's bad scripting and inadequate for any release, especially something iconic like this one.
Sounds - room for improvement but not a deal breaker by any means. It sounds like a 91 (I was at Kings Cross on Thursday) engaging, so fair play to the DTG sound manager for that.
Summary - it's good value for money for the price I guess. A loco and set of coaches totally new and with potential. Scenarios are weak, and there is debate as to why we have a Class 91 and set in IC livery, for a modern 21st Century route. It's all about licensing it seems, and nothing that the community or 3rd party cannot resolve or build upon. Glad we have it in the fleet now. For looks, bravo DTG. For sounds, okay DTG. For scenarios, 'meh' DTG. For drivability - DTG could/shuld have done better with regards to observing signals in the rain from the cab. After all, you can;t spend all trip with your head out of the side window or you''ll get tripped by the DVD
On the debate about the DSD/DVD (whatever) - we should have a feature to at least toggle it off. I like to take screencaps with all sorts of external views. This is 'tricky' at best with the Class 91 as is. As for the 'you want realism in the sim but want to switch off all the safety features' concerns... why then, do we have a pause button? How far do y'all want to go? Fancy doing Euston to Preston without a pee break do you? That's what some Pendolino workings do... No pause button there... How far are you willing to go? Personally, I am all for immersion... but let's keep it reasonable.

Re: Class 91 on sale / realism???
May I shortly intrude with a slightly different aspect?
I was wondering about the procedures in real life of passengers getting on and off the Class 91 Intercities with their tight schedules - how does the driver know, everything is clear?
There's a door interlock light in the cab of the Class 91 (by the way, is it true, that this does NOT function in the Class 91 add-on????? - ignored simple details like these really drive me nuts with RSC/DTG models), but there is none on the other end in the Mk4 DVT. Does the driver really have to rely on just two simple buzzes from the guard? Can't believe this! So - can some expert with real-life experience help to enlighten my ingnorance?
Thanks

Re: Class 91 on sale / realism???
Eleven coach Pendolino formations, ten car Super Voyagers, 12 coach desiros and many other large formation trains on the network rely on the guards buzzer - a driver will usually only look intently at the interlock light if he can't get brake release after receiving the buzzes. Why do you consider this dangerous on 91s and mk4s specifically? I will acknowledge that by and large for the West Coast stuff there are RA signal accompaniments too, but I think that's also the case for ECML expresses.OldThrottle wrote:May I shortly intrude with a slightly different aspect?
