Making train non-selectable

Post by deltic009 »

Anybody know how to make a loco work fine on a set route/scenario, but not be pickable from the list when making a scenario? I have tried this via making the entry for pickable set to eFalse, but that made no difference to whether the train appeared or not. It had to be able to be seen by the sim in order to work, but not by the user as it isn't intended to be selected as is - it should be forming the unique basis for a reskin blueprint.

Thanks

I have answered my own question here, just delete all name entries to be absolutely nothing and voila it does not appear in the loco list.

May I ask why you would want to in this case? :D

- I could understand if it was something like a locomotive component that was useless by itself.

If you have created a scenario the trains that are static don't have a driver icon so cannot be selected.
The trains that run as AI don't have the Player Train box ticked and again cannot be selected.

I have a reskin of a Class 90 in Anglia with decals and nameplates. A large element of the paint job requires changing on one of the 'common' folder textures - if I reskin that it will change for every single GEML Class 90. So I have made a further reskin blueprint of the Class 90 with nameplates etc so that I can alter the one texture sheet I wanted too. See below for a direct comparison of the two.

You misunderstand - I don't want anyone able to access the loco at all, to choose it, place it or anything. I want the loco to be a sleeping item for the purposes of the reskin blueprint only.

I too have had to move about the GEML 90 files for the Abellio version due to needing to get rid of the logo and change textures like the buffer beams. But i'm still unsure why you want it not shown in the list?

I want the version with standard buffers to not show, the below screenshot is the one I want to show. As far as the sim is concerned those are two separate trains. My end goal is to produce the one train, so naturally I don't want the other one - which represents partly done - to be selectable. Does that explain better.
