What a surprise!!! Just when I thought DTG were going to give us a default HST and SWT 159 Is the the start of a new era for DTG; detailed routes, correct rolling stock?! I certainly hope so

Here's my take on this up and coming release, not that you asked for it!

It would be nice if they did the Exmouth Branch as well, shouldn't take much doing. That way we get to ride both sides of the Exe - Estuary and would make things a little bit more interesting as well.

Exeter - Paignton is a little short really, I appreciate there will be a lot of custom assets, but Plymouth or at least Totnes would have been better, that way we would have got more inclines and banks.

If they bundle the toothpaste NSE livery 159 in with the route I'll be throwing money at the screen. This route will be a big seller, I think nearly everyone here has at one point taken the pilgrimage to one of the most idyllic places for train enthusiasts. nostalgia sells, so I think this one will. I would love to create scenarios like I used to do in MSTS where you just watch traffic for 20 mins or so. That thing would be fun at Dawlish, watching trans crawl along the sea wall and snake around the coves and into the tunnels. I think a few people on here have created similar sort of scenarios for L2B.

Potentially a great route in the making, just shame it only goes about 25 miles start from end. If they include Exeter River Side Yard and New Abbot Hackney yard, there might be room for some engineers train scenarios.

I'm hoping that Goodrington yard is also included to the south of Paignton, that would then give some extra scenario options as well for rail tours and birthing of trains every now and then.

I've travelled a bit of a bereavement curve (Google it) with regard to this route to be honest. I am at 'acceptance' at it being 'only Exeter to Paignton' where what I really, really would have liked would be the up and down merriment of Exeter to Plymouth. Undeniably though, the WIP shots are showing some really nice progress on Facebook and the temptation is going to be too much to resist.

Rosgar will have a field day here with snacktime scenario potential I am sure... I am looking forward to a multitude of loco-hauled opportunities along the sea wall, whether it be some sort of China Clay bullets thing, engineers traffic, Test Car 10 (thanks Mr Ross), parcels, motorail... diesel depot fuel tanks (now roaded in 2014 - shocking), railtours, holiday maker specials... Class 50s for the win... pairs of 31s on Manchester to Paignton jobbies... A Laira NB37 on the 1320 Plymouth to Liverpool (SuO) etc etc... As George Formby might have said, 'Eeeeehh, my giddy aunt...'

I really would like to see a custom asset though - a young lad of 12 or 13, rowing his dinghy out on the sea while watching the trains go by (me in the summer of 1987)... Or a young lad of 4 or 5 with his family waving to the trains from the footbridge near Dawlish Warren (me in the summer of 1979).

For once, bring it on DTG. (Amazing how positive a win for the Villa can make you)...

For any train traveller who lives in the far south west of England then the Dawlish/Teignmouth seawall is hugely symbolic. I was speaking to a lady in work today whose daughter is at Med School in London. She said that whenever her daughter travels home she bursts into tears when the train passes the seawall because the beauty of it is overwhelming and more so because it symbolises being back in Gods country, away from the dirt and hustle of London. I totally understood what she meant. I used to travel this route regularly also and it always used to make me emotional. After endless miles of just cities, fields and commuter suburbs, to finally sea the dramatic coast is breathtaking every time.

I had another vested interest in this section. My other passion in life is surfing. I was able to judge the chances of there being any surf at the Plymouth beaches by the size of the waves at Teignmouth! Anything over knee high waves at Teignmouth would mean that the more exposed spots further west would be firing! A perfectly calibrated measurement tool long before the advent of the internet and complex forecasting models.

In later life I often take my kids for walks along the wall at Teignmouth now. It's one of the only family outings where none of them ever complain about going and it's a wonderful free day out!

I gave this route a bit of a bashing when first previewed on Book Face but these latest shots are looking very good indeed, if the rest is as good then this will be a must have for me.

With my tongue firmly lodged in my cheek I'll guess it will be at least two weeks before we see this.

I'd say the 91 is a way off. There hasn't been any pics of the painted model yet.

The 92 has disappeared into thin air. I think the 92 is a partner program is it not?

DG said a week or so ago that they were doing something with the sounds for the 92 and that's why it wasn't ready yet. No mention on the 91, which is a shame seeing as we have the route for it.
