I have recently had the brush-off from DTG regarding a request for a joystick interface.
It's really frustrating having controlled the locos with proper controls, only to find the latest loco incarnations reduce me back to the keyboard.
My control is recognized by Windows as a game controller, so, if I get this "Xpadder" software I'll be able to once again control locomotives in TS?
Does it cater for a couple of axis controlled by potentiometers (throttle and brakes, which Windows calibrates) or does it only cater for X Box push buttons?
I'm not brilliant with software, so please make allowances!
Regards
Kevin

If each loco has different keystroke controls then even Xpadder would need to create an individual profile for each different loco.
I have seen keystrokes C, B, N, M, used to alert the acknowledgement that passengers are loaded, different keystrokes for the various lights and on some German Locos "Q" has a different function to the TS2014 default - A and and W and S are pretty safe as are the various views.
I use a Logitech G13 and have used the inbuilt Logitech software to emulate about 99+% of TS 2014 keystrokes but that requires numerous charts to see which of 90+ keystrokes applies for a particular loco.
AFAIK there are no AXES in TS 2014 just progressive keystrokes ie each time you press a key it advances or declines.
Pinnacle Game Studios also make game controller software and they did have a TS2012/13 template. There was some freeware published here but am not sure if it works in TS2014.
For simplicity I use an Xbox 360 controller and the keyboard when I can't remember a particular function.

Since so many of you offered guidance and help, I thought I would post this update, in case anyone was interested. I did get the raildriver approximately 24 hours ago. It was a breeze to install, and is working FLAWLESSLY. I had some questions because I am not real computer savvy. The folks at RailDriver could not have been more helpful, friendly, and supportive. I got detailed answers to the questions I had, and in simple to understand language, including step by step guidance. Wow - imagine this in today's market. One of my questions was on how to reprogram the raildriver to work with "combined throttle/dynamic brake locomotives". I got the guidance - it really is simple. So now I can use it on a whole lot more TS loco/scenarios. I haven't actually done that yet, but it is to be done first thing tomorrow morning.
The point of this whole writing is for 2 things: 1 - What a great bunch of people are working at RailDriver, and 2 - that it works FLAWALESSLY with Train simulator 2014. Again, my thanks for all the help form this form.

Great stuff I'm glad you've got it working properly. It would indeed seem that most of those who report serious issues with how it works have several year old units from the days of MSTS and like I said earlier I have a suspicion the manufacturer has improved their product since those early days. I've had mine for a little over 3 years now and it has worked perfectly all that time, gets almost daily use and has survived the destructive hands of 3 young kids!
