Is the Edinburgh 'loop' line (suburban line?) included and/or Haymarket and its surroundings. And what is the route era, yes, electrified, but as the Edinburgh Waverly has changed few times around past what, 20 years? And, how about the short dock branch (can't remember name, but junction is close to Craigntienny (sorry about the spelling on that...) :D

It does sounds like an interesting route, even though there are some long stretches of high speed running (read: danger to fell to sleep-running).

I think you mean the Powderhall branch, it was mentioned above that this is included. Of course, this line did run in recent times to Leith Docks, but given the modern setting of the route I wouldn't think this is included.

The suburban line isn't included,at least in the initial route,we decided to focus all our attentions north of Newcastle and South of Edinburgh in all honesty, mainly because that is obviously new TS ground...

The branches to Leith Coal Reception sidings and the Powderhall line are both included.

The route is broadly set in the era 2000-2013.

Mark

I've been out of the Train Simulator loop for a wee while (blame my new, other obsession FSX) and haven't logged on to the forums for a while. What a brilliant piece of news to come back to, that Newcastle to Edinburgh is finally going to be made! I've been longing for this! I would be lovely to see the little branch down to Leith Docks included - I live right next to it and only the other day was wondering if it was still in use. Tracks are still there but they look a bit rusty and I can't remember the last time I saw a train using it.

I don't think that JT would provide a IC225 - Class 91+Mk4+DVT as one has already been announced by RSC for London to Peterborough.
The section of the mainline from Edinburgh to Drem has a local service that goes to North Berwick - currently these are worked by Class 380 emus - also available from RSC.
Passenger trains between Edinburgh and Newcastle are either Class 91/Mk4 sets, HST's or Voyagers.

If JT were to provide a train for the route then the Voyager might be the choice.
And as HSTs reskins have been provided with Bristol to Exeter and S-ECML routes that might be another choice.

For the short distance, 4 miles of single track, the North Berwick branch might be of use.
We already have the 322(321) & 380 emus.
