Magic Moments in TS2014

Sometimes you just play a scenario that brings a huge grin and really puts you in the drivers seat.

Sorry to bore you but just played a scenario on the North East Rails shunting coal trucks between collieries with the Payware 3F Jinty. The combination of a fantastic route and the sheer racket of loco and wagons plus the physics feeling right really put me in the moment. Makes all the other issues fall away at times like that.

Hope you all have some magic moments as well!

I've lost most of the past month to shunting around the NCB lines in North East Rails with both the austerity and the Jinty and I know exactly where you're coming from. Total immersion.

It makes all the time, money and effort worthwhile.

I'm not alone then!

Through sheer chance, involving the hiding of a xmas pressie from SWMBO, I stumbled upon an old Rail Enthusiast with an article all about the 14's at Ashington. Issue 64 of Jan 87. Great read. Not just that article but the whole magazine.

Despite lots of critical debates and discussions, if we didn't love the sim then we wouldn't stick around. Probably my favourite drive for immersion is the 1980's Laneshaw Bridge freeware route. There's something about that route that just oozes BR blue era atmosphere and I never tire of driving it.
I've compiled a string of scenarios that depict the day of a BR driver with a variety of traction on offer over a series of 6 or so 20 minute scenarios. Complete with AP soundpacks then the experience is simply sublime. Thrashing up the hill in a class 20 or 31 through that grimy northern atmosphere with all the small details is bliss.

I keep meaning to get round to uploading the scenarios but I find I can't be bothered with identifying and listing all the stock I've used.

I recall the very article. The ramshackle box by the flat crossing had to be seen to be believed :o .

Cheers,

Is North East Rails on UKTS? And where did you get the Class 14? Would love a 14 in my collection, especially when I spent the best part of a day cleaning one at RSR!

Agree that Laneshaw Bridge is another of those routes oozing in authenticity and immersion.

Driving over the Forth Bridge at night on Just Trains SECML (by Mully) with the lighting effects and reverberating sounds. Magic!
