1. It looks nowhere near as good as some of the more recent UK and German routes
2. There's no point motors on the points
3. Missing speed warning boards
4. MK2 coaches have MK3 sounds applied
Still the best UK route to date though so thank you Keith!
Let's be honest, you have left yourself wide open here by the contradiction you make.
As for perceived errors, if they are there (not got the route yet) then I am sure Keith will patch them. You will always find glitches in every route, just view them with a bit of perspective. My first run in GEML and within 60 seconds I found a floating AWS magnet. I didn't huff and puff and blow the house down, I made a note and fixed it. If it was something inherent that made the route, to me unplayable, then I would see things differently.
Proportion and perspective

.
Regards,
I'm commenting on looks. It doesn't look as good as some of the more recent routes but by god it's a lot better in terms of scenario possibilities hence me describing as the best produced to date.
Point motors should be there, I shouldn't have to put them in. This is a train sim so first and most important thing to get right is the track and signalling.
I'm not huffing and puffing!!!
Enjoy!

Just gone for my first drive, it looks absolutely stunning. Probably the most detailed UK route I've seen! Also liking the reworked 47, much nicer to drive, all it needs is AP Pro sounds.
One thing I did notice is that the Windermere branch seems to be missing scenery, and doesn't show up on Quick Drive - looking forward to hopefully driving it one day.

The Windermere branch is currently unscenerised, but efforts are already afoot within the Community to rectify this

Well, this has exceeded my expectations. Only some quick mentions because I am having so much fun.
Preston and Lancaster very well represented, I know both of these quite well. The Lune gorge is erm gorgeous. Carnforth ( Steamtown that was ) modelled well. Locos great to drive.
Back to driving, I'm having so much fun.

I have these already, but they are in .wtr and .wtt file formats, so cannot be read?

Ive bought myself some 1975-1976 British Rail timetables, but at 20 quid they are a bit pricy. OTOH, they seem collectors items. Ive seen examples selling for 60 quid plus online. So it might be worth copping them now whilst you can.
One alternative to Simsig (thats a good suggestion btw, ill have to track that down) is 'Hellfire', a BR Era Train bashers sim. Basically the objective it to travel all over the UK Network circa 1981, copping as many locos as you can. If you buy the full version you can access tops data, whereas if you use the free example you have a random chance of getting nicked by British Transport Police.
http://www.railrover.co.uk/
This is useful to us, because when setting up your start station you can pick anywhere on the network, and thus can access the games timetable, which is based upon the 1981 British Rail timetable. Its incredibly useful, as it will tell you when trains will visit a particular station, and indeed what locos might be typical on the service. I used it for the Class 33 scenarios, and it came up with an amazingly accurate stopping service. I was continually meetin trains meeting in the station at the same time as I arrived.
This has a lot of potential for BR era scenarios, particularly WCML, so its worth looking at. And its a lot of fun in its own right of course.

Just done the Wessex Scot scenario (which was going so well until I SPAD'ed at Carlisle - the brake simulation seems very good but takes some getting used to!).
Driving through the Lune Gorge was a joy; not only did it make full use of superelevation but I could pick out features I've seen time and time again from the motorway as I'd crane my neck from a passenger seat in a car to see something racing through those curves!
Neutral sections add an interesting dimension, keeping you on your toes throughout though I haven't yet found out what happens if you plough through one without taking the power off

You have to let the amp meters reset, then use the Pan Up/Reset function (after changing to Neutral and putting Tap to off postion) After that, you can retake power.
Edit: Look below my mistake

Incorrect I'm afraid, all you need to do is to put the controller to 'Off', wait until the tap indicator has reached zero and then take power again. It's covered on page 17 of the manual.

Which period is this route set in? I'm a little confused as Steam says it is set in the BR Blue period of the 1970's and includes BR Blue stock, however, some of the pictures I've seen show modern speed signs and Virgin Trains platform car stops. Am I missing something, because how can it be both set in the 70's and the days of VT?

Its mostly 70s/80s. But the EPS signs, VT signs are added so it can also be used in later time periods so not to completely restrict it.

Excellent! Bought and will try out soon!
Also if the texture layout on the 87 is reasonable, I have a couple of skins I had planned.

Jonathan worked real hard on the brake simulation and the power output of the Class 87, and I think it shows. You can really crank 110mph out of this thing now.
Dont forget the Class 47s though. They are much improved on the version that shipped with Newcastle York.
