Poorly coded game

Is it just me, or is RailSimulator extremely poorly coded?
Today I upgraded from the Radeon 7850 to the GTX 780 and that should give me at least 50% more calculating capacity and thus more fps.
But I see absolutely NO difference in performance.
JusMy system specs:
CPU: 4.4 Ghz
GPU: GTX 780
RAM: 8Gb
OS: Win7 64bit
Power: 700 Watts
Sure this can and must do better then 25 fps in the GEML near Stratford.
During a benchmark test with Unigine Heaven 4.0 I had 650 points with the Radeon 7850 and over 1500 points with this new card.
The only conclusion I can come up with is that RailSim is poorly coded if it just won't matter what card you have in your PC.

What settings are you running at?
I may be easy to please, but 25FPS in such a busy area as that would be fine for me.
My GPU will easily reach 100+ FPS in areas, but I peg my FPS at 30 across the board as that gives me performance I am more than happy with and hopefully, reduce load on the card.
Kindest Regards,

You need to remember that the core game here is afew years old now. The problems this game has are no worse than Flightsim.

Yes, wait for the unreal4 engine then I'm sure your card will make it fly? I'd be happy with 25fps on the GEML too.

The 78XX series do quite poor sadly on Direct X 9 games it appears. But more on some then others which is quite annoying. Many games, especially demanding ones my 7870 plays perfectly, such as Metro Last Light: More or less maxed (AA/AF settings standard or low) 90+ frames. TS normally average about 30/40 if that sadly.
The 780 is a pretty good upgrade, from a mid range card to high range one.

Yes it is a very good card, but also Cities In Motion is a CPU centred game, and I even don't want to start about FSX.
I wonder what is does in X-Plane

I think you answered your own question....

You can have as much calculating capacity as you want, but if the game doesn't/can't use it......

A point such as this is why I consulted many a thread on here before upgrading, as I didn't want to over-egg the pudding

.

The only thing that works with this game is to supr-overclock your CPU.
Mine went from 3.6 to 4.7 Ghz. Idle the core is at 35 degrees. Under load it goes up to something like 65 degrees.

Ignore the frame rates, does the game run smoothly with no jerking etc, if so what more do you want?

It is. There were millions of topics about this. Perhaps you should have read before you spent money on that gtx.
Sadly the poor coding appears not just in frame rates, but the physics, AI, and the addon development problems for this game.

There are a few graphics options which heavily increase the CPU load without really making the game much better.
Have a look at my post here:
http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 7#p1675063 and the rest of that thread.
Also, exactly what "4.4 GHz CPU" do you have? There's more to processors than clock speed...
