8F

Post by oskarfourzero »

Hi,

I am trying to find the Stanier 8F from RSC which Steam says is no longer on their downloads but i have found SSS 8F but it says only if you have the Woodhead Route, i do not have this route so where can i get an 8F from?

Thanks for any help.

Roger.

Well . . . as the SSS guidelines say, you need the Woodhead Route! (which includes the 8F in "Rusty" format)

The UKTS Great Central Railway Pack also includes three versions of the 8F (one if which is Turkish Railways!) but I think they are based on the earlier (withdrawn) version and therefore probably won't work with the SSS pack. You could always download it and try.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the info, i have downloaded The UKTS Great Central Railway Pack but when i opened it it says the 8F is not included,

Oh well i will have to do without it until RSC perhaps brings it out as a separate addon, "Who knows"!

Thanks again,

Roger.

The Woodhead 8F is the same as the original RSC 8F but moved to a different folder etc with the added security files so you can't move it and that's more than likely the reason why the original loco vanished. The skins with the original were the same format as the Woodhead version so if you know what you are doing it is possible to move them to the Woodhead folder to keep them just in one folder.

I think the Central ones are repaints of the originals so you would need the original set of files but the reskins would also fit the Woodhead version if you knew what you are doing using RW Tools.

I don't agree with RSC's policy when they scrap a single loco and leaving the only other version packed with a route but then I'm not their accountant either.

No Roger, it's the Great Central Railway Loco Pack, not the Route pack. UKTS 30011, v1.0.3
http://uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php? ... leid=30011

I misspoke - it includes three versions of the 8F PLUS the Turkish Railways 8F. But of course they're all "preserved" liveries

As Ron says below, the Woodhead pack is the only "regular" 8F now available, which is why the SSS Pack uses it. I recommend the Woodhead Route anyway, for what it's worth!

Just to point out that the "Great Central Railway Loco Pack" won't include the actual 8F model. They will be repaints plus maybe some means of easily applying them to the 8F version they were intended for.

I would also recommend the Woodhead route.

What might not be obvious is SSS are selling a Sound Pack for the 8F not a loco.
